21  Re: Help me customize my VW Beetle! in Discussion and Questions by poprock6903 on: July 17, 2007 07:29:37 AM
That lace is pretty awesome! It's really funky! If you're really feeling going all out, how bout something like this?

It's the shagmobile from Austin Powers 2. This is just a toy version of it, but they actually gave away the original car on MTV while that movie was in theaters. I always kind of wanted one. Even if you don't go this all out, it could serve as inspiration. Especially if you like bright colors!

22  Cherry Blossom Apron in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by poprock6903 on: July 14, 2007 07:12:01 PM
I think this is the right place to post an apron... if nothing else, it protects your clothing. I made this out of some fabric I found at Jo-Ann Fabrics, after seeing the fabric used by another craftster for a purse. I used this pattern from about.com, http://sewing.about.com/od/aprons/ss/oneyardapron.htm

Without further ado, here are the photos!

While it's not my best sewing job, it'll serve its purpose. I haven't sewn anything substantial in a while, but since this turned out decently, I'm gonna keep at it.

The apron on the recliner... just to give you an idea of the impressive wingspan.

Closeup of the pockets... I am in love with zig-zag stitch, and wish I'd used it for the rest of the pockets/apron because it's that awesome. I placed these closer together, because the way the pattern has you place them, they look really odd. You might even be able to just do one larger piece of fabric and sew it up the middle to make the pocket. I didn't do that because I didn't think of it until I was placing the pockets. I think they kind of look like a butt, but it's ok, because it's kind of funny.

Just wanted to share my work, let me know what you think!

23  Re: Isabeau, small and quick... anyone game? in Knitalongs by poprock6903 on: June 12, 2006 03:56:39 PM
It's done!!! The pictures are kinda dull because my camera phone is being poopy today. I used a vintage black button and some random pink/white/green flowery fabric for the lining. To stiffen up the bottom, I used a strip of the cover of a spiral notebook. onto the photos!

I sewed up the sides because I don't know how to crochet (and don't have a hook), but I think they look pretty good anyway. Everybody else's Isabeus were awesome inspiration!

24  Re: hitchhiker's guide marvin the cuddly android - pattern included in Knitting: Completed Projects by poprock6903 on: August 10, 2005 07:51:30 PM
just wanted to join in the praise chorus for the pattern! i finished mine today.

did anybody else feel like Dr. Frankenstein when putting him together? i had to fight back the urge to shout, "IT'S ALIVE, ALIIIIIIIVE!"  Grin

he's actually a birthday present for my friend who went to see this with me and leaned over just to say, "hey panda, knit that for me!" ...little does he know, i actually did! i'm going to give him a towel as well, because as ihabiadai said, you never know when they'll come in handy!

25  Re: Earring Binge swap! in The Swap Gallery by poprock6903 on: July 24, 2005 02:06:40 PM
I received my earrings from orange_sunset on Thursday, this is the first chance I had to post 'em. The red and white pair are fishing lures, which is awesome because i'd been wanting to make a pair for myself like that, but hadn't figured out what would work best. the other pair are big black shiny beads and some seed beads ended by a curley cue... and i got a marble magnet as well. it's like Christmas in July! Thanks again, orange_sunset! you rock!

27  Rainbow purse! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by poprock6903 on: January 11, 2005 06:02:23 PM
I made this purse from probably the easiest mental pattern ever. It's basically a tote bag with a pocket inside.

Rainbow fabric was $1/yard at Wal-Mart.
Lining was just red cotton that I had laying around the house.

Folded the main fabric over and sewed it onto the inside. The straps are tubes of the rainbow fabric sewn onto the outside of the bag (strategically, to cover some mistakes).

it's not the most complicated process, but it was fun to make and the recipient liked it!

29  Spider-man Skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by poprock6903 on: November 25, 2004 02:12:50 PM
I made this Spider-man skirt over the summer, but am just now getting around to posting it...

it's all one piece of fabric, i folded the top over and sewed it for a drawstring area and i used red lace for the drawstring. All in all, i think it cost less than $10, plus some mild frustrations. I'm really proud of it!  Grin
