1  Re: Craft Me Some Jewelry Rd. 1 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by poprock6903 on: September 24, 2009 05:24:21 PM
Got my package from Seraphina_de_Sangre on Tuesday. Then I got busy with life, and didn't get to photograph anything until tonight.

Without further ado, here are the goods:

Everything all together: two pairs of flower earrings, a pair of red/blue earrings (they remind me of firecrackers), a flower ring, a super long-chained Panda necklace, and a pair of green/white earrings that need hooks.

Close-up on the yellow earrings:

Ring - sooo pretty!:

Then all the findings and beads she sent me:

Thank you so much, Sera! I got tons of compliments on everything I've worn so far!

2  Re: Magic Yarn Ball Round 11 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by poprock6903 on: July 30, 2009 08:34:23 PM
Without further ado, may I present my wonderful package from superhooker. Like I said, she won the speed round, and I got a ton of pretty awesome stuff. Picture heavy because it needs to be.

Here's a shot of the balls and all the extras:

-3 bonus skeins of yarn, one of which (the green/blue/yellow) was hand-dyed by superhooker herself
-2 dessert cookbooks
-1 Lucky Bird Foot (a la the Lucky Rabbit's Foot, but not a real bird foot - that's cruel!)
-size 35 knitting needles, which came in handy for winding my yarn back up. I used them like a nostepinne.

I requested yarn for the Argosy scarf from Knitty, so she sent two skeins of Noro Silk Garden Lite. Here's another shot of the MYBs themselves:

And here's a photo of everything in the balls unwrapped:

Contained in the MYBs:
-Several button rings - the rose and pressed flower ones are my favorites.
-Button bobby pins - pansies, silver/burgundy buttons, and 20's glamour girls
-Tons of ceramic and plastic buttons - the yellow stars remind me of the invincibility stars from Super Mario Brothers.
-A bag of vintage sewing notions - tons of snaps/closures, some suspender clips, bias tape, and a belt fixture, among other things.
-Lollipops and hard candy
-Iridescent thread
-A knit washcloth in a honeycomb pattern
-A hand-carved panda stamp (AHHH!)
-Recipe cards with cupcakes on 'em
-Teal-topped straight pins
-Yarn needles
-A pincushion/sewing kit
-A small skein of super-soft green yarn. What fiber is that, SH?
-A Buddha magnet (funny because my friends call me Dashboard Buddha - they always get awesome parking spots with me in the car)
-A couple of stitch markers
-A silver medallion

And here's one last shot of the washcloth, my favorite rings, and the Lucky Bird Foot.

Thank you so much, superhooker! I love everything, and I hope you love your package as much as I love mine!

3  Re: Once You Pop Swap Round 9- Summer Edition Gallery in The Swap Gallery by poprock6903 on: July 02, 2009 06:03:46 PM
I received from CuriousCoffee today, and I love what she sent!
Here's the group shot, followed by some pics of my favorite things:

The can was decorated with paper that had a photo of grass on it. One of my favorite summer things is the smell of fresh-cut grass. Clockwise, there's a chipboard book kit (didn't fit in the can), some patriotic glitter, a fantastic 50's throwback necklace, a thin wire and bead necklace, some Lemonheads, one of the two packs of gum (the melon-mint made it into my purse already), three pairs of earrings, six bottlecap magnets, three Lemonheads pencils (that type of pencil brings up a bunch of 3rd grade nostalgia), 4 pairs of flower snappy clips, and a freaking awesome mini cookbook! CuriousCoffee wrote up a bunch of her favorite recipes she thought I'd like. I think the Mocha Frappuccino recipe is going to get made tomorrow. The snappy clips remind me of an episode of The Big Bang Theory where Penny started her own flower hair clip business. They're adorable.

Earrings - the black/white/pink ones remind me of Beetlejuice  Cheesy

50's-ish necklace:

Mini Cookbook:

Thanks so much, CuriousCoffee! I hope you like your package as much as I liked mine!!

5  Re: Easy Peasy 2 Swap Gallery!!! in The Swap Gallery by poprock6903 on: May 30, 2009 05:38:23 PM
I received from DiscoQueenHighness today! She made me a fabulous tote bag. I love love love the fabric she used, and there's even a zippered pocket inside!

Next to my 17" laptop for size reference:

And the zippered pocket:

She also sent along some Orbit Sweet Mint gum because it matched. Little did she know that it's my favorite gum ever. Thank you so much, DiscoQueenHighness! I hope you love my item as much as I love yours!

6  Fast, fun and easy aprons in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by poprock6903 on: December 21, 2008 05:18:00 PM
Just whipped these puppies up this afternoon. Two Christmas presents for friends who love to cook/bake as much as I do. You could easily make these from a yard of fabric. The only problem I had was with the straps: the fabric did not want to cooperate when I went to sew it down.

Onto the pictures!

and both together:

Any thoughts or tips would be welcome! Happy Holidays!

Sooo... without further ado, here's all the sweet loot I received from loudxmouse. I'd have to say that I was spoiled like crazy here!

Warning, this is kind of pic heavy. Not apologizing, though... you ladies need to see all of this.

The ball... as soon as I opened it, this magnificent smell came out... what is that?

The yummy culprit:

Everything unwrapped:

This little dude from my Wists:

kbauer has asked that I post a picture of the round item, so here it is... I made the Calla Coasters from the Purl Bee blog, and then I felted them. I made them from Knitpicks Wool of the Andes in Tulip and Rain.

I received my package from kbauer on Monday! Since I'm a giant procrastinator and had to write a paper last night/today, I'm just now getting to upload pics. Let me just say that I was spoiled like whoa. I'm a very lucky swapper!  Grin  Kind of pic heavy, but isn't that the purpose of the gallery?

Hard: Yarn needles... I have a hard time keeping track of mine.

Green: Eco-friendly Swiffer cover and a garterlac dishcloth! I love the colors. These will be put to good use!

Local: A Texas coffee mug! It's got lots of Texas landmarks, and it's pretty!

T: A Project Tote! kbauer used her husband's old jeans for this, and can you believe it's her first sewn tote bag? I think she did a wonderful job, and it's absolutely gorgeous!

aaaand the inside...

Funny: An Amanda Panda phone cover (my name is Amanda, which is even better).

Round: Noro Kureyon! I've never worked with the stuff, so she sent me a round ball of it and a new one! Both are somewhat round

and Sender's choice: A Poptart iPod Nano cozy! I love it so much! I didn't get an action shot of it, but it fits my iPod perfectly!

Thank you so much, kbauer!!! I love everything!  You were a fantastic partner, and it was great getting to know you! Grin Sorry there's no action shot of the tote bag, but it was near impossible to get a good shot by myself.

10  Re: Attempted Agro Crag- HELP! in Discussion and Questions by poprock6903 on: March 08, 2008 09:23:51 AM
So my brother and I were big fans of the show GUTS when we were kids. We still look on ebay sometimes to see if people are selling pieces of the Agro Crag (a big chunk of glow-in-the-dark "rock").

You do this, too???

My friends and I were a GUTS team a few years ago for our school's Winter Weekend (read: play silly field games while drunk) event one year, and we made a rock with a bunch of styrofoam pieces that we painted green with tons of acrylic paint. It was kind of a crappy representation, but I think that's just because we didn't have a lot of time. We used little blocks that we held together with skewers, but if you used a bigger piece and cut it down, that might work better. If you're looking for something more durable, it might be hard to find something lightweight enough to lift over your head in victory (and isn't that the point of the rock?). Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the rock on this computer, but I'll see if my friend can send me one...

And just for a bit of encouragement:

Good luck!
