1  COOKING / Dessert / "I Don't Give a Hoot" Cupcakes on: July 20, 2008 10:17:33 PM
I did these little owls today. The directions cake from the book "Hello Cupcake." They were really easy to do but I wanted more perfect eyes so I think next time I might just pipe some white icing onto chocolate wafer cookies and smooth it with an offset spatula. Whatdayathink?

2  COOKING / Dessert / "'Til Death Do Us Part" Cake on: July 10, 2008 09:04:16 AM
Hey Everyone!  Last year when a couple friends of mine got married I helped them make little Day of the Dead skulls for their wedding cake. In exchange, she gave me a mold for skulls that were more realistic. I had always wanted to do something with them but the idea in my head couldn't be realized until my cake decorator (love ya, Jenny!) taught me how to do roses this past week. So, long story short, I made a quick little one tiered version of the cake I'd do for a goth wedding. Here are some pictures:

It's three layers of cake- two chocolate rum and one white, fudge icing, and buttercream roses (that I don't suggest eating- the dye makes them taste like dirt). The "dirt" is Oreo cookies processed to a fine powder and the skulls are vanilla flavored candies molded and them rubbed with hot cocoa mix (I forgot the cocoa powder when I went shopping). Now, the only question remains is this: what on earth am I going to do with a three layer cake? =) Hope ya'll enjoy!
3  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Watch de Jour?? With pics! Yay! on: May 01, 2007 10:49:05 PM
Okay, so, it's not totally from the book but it's a take on the "belt de jour" project from SnB Nation. It's my first attempt at cables. =)

Sorry if the pics are a bit weird.
