96  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Goodwill Blah Turned to Buzz Lightyear Hazah! Three Chair Recovering IMG heavy on: April 13, 2007 11:27:53 PM
i was on the search for chairs
so that i didnt have to transport one chair across my bed when i wanted to sew.
and back across when i wanted to do computer work.
therefore, goodwill saved my life.
not only two, but three chairs (no clue where i would put chair number three) for a fabulous 3.99 had my eye.
but the color... gotta go.
before:

yeah. they are blah. i gotta say it.
having no clue what to cover them in, hancock fabric saved me
having a buzz lightyear window seat cover, i managed to find three different buzz lightyear fabrics to cover my chairs.
my mom laughed.
my boyfriend thinks im dumb. (he always does. lol)
but now that they are finished, i love them!

group shot, with stacy london in the background...
what not to wear... love it!

all hail the almighty staple guns...
97  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / needing help removing chair backs on: March 30, 2007 10:28:04 PM
so i bought three chairs for my room from goodwill.
one for my sewing desk. one for my school work desk.
and one just for the hell of it.
because it was such a great deal.
problem was, they were ugly... with a capital UG
getting the bottoms off and recovered was a cinch.
my dilemma now, is how to get the backs off.
heres a picture to show my problem...
or if anyone has an idea how to work around getting the backs off, but having the back covered to match the seat, that would be fantastic...

the closeup of the things i have to try and get off
but cant figure out for the life of me...

and what the chair backs look like, currently in their "cant have anything figured out phase"

any advice would be stupendous!
98  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Jim Henson Appreciation Swap Round 2 Sign Ups CLOSED Send by May 18 on: March 29, 2007 02:49:20 PM
Swap name: Jim Henson Appreciation Swap Round 2
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: emlee_bee (first time organizer.  please bear with me Cheesy)
Sign-up date range: March 29 through April 14
Date to send item by: May 14

Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): 24 or less preferably.  But more is merrier

Restricted to people who all live in the same country? NO
If so, which country?

All ages allowed? Or 18+? All ages, but please get parental permission before hand

Swap Organizer himself/herself meets these conditions:
- Has fully read the Swap Info Guide: YES
- Has successfully completed two swaps as a participant: YES
- Is not organizing more than three swaps right now: YES
- Will recruit a co-organizer or give all details to a Swap Moderator if this swap has more than 25 participants: YES

Swap Organizer will check each participant to make sure they meet these conditions:
- Has been a member for at least one month: YES
- Has posted at least 15 times: YES
- Has completed one swap successfully before signing up for multiple swaps at a time: YES
- Is not currently signed up for more than five swaps: YES
- Does not have any negative feedback: YES

Details of swap:
(taken from the original Jim Henson swap)
This Swap is to celebrate Jim Henson, so it can include anything he was involved in. When we hear the name Jim Henson, the first things that come to mind are Muppets and monsters; however, Jim was also involved in creating some wonderful fantasy worlds where Fraggles danced their cares away, Gelflings raced to get the shard to the crystal in time, and Davie Bowie wore tights.

Because this swap is not limited to one show or movie, it is possible that you may get a partner who has different Henson favorites than you do. I will do my best to match people up with similar interests, but I may not always be able to do that. For example, a Sesame Street fan might be paired up with a Dark Crystal fan and have to make crafts that pertain to their partner's likes and not necessarily their own.

I don't want to put a limit on sizes and items of what should be sent.  please plan to correspond with your partner as to how many items/sizes to send.  At least plan to make one time consumed item, since i've given you a month from the end sign ups to the send out date.

My Rules:  Once you have sent your information to me, please post in this thread so that i know you are alive and breathing, and wont have to call Doctor Bob to come find you.  I'd like to hear from everyone once crafting time starts on a fairly regular basis, because when im getting no contact, i begin to worry.  thanks so much
