Hi all! I am writing this because just last night I found out that one of my very good friends is going back for another round of chemo this Friday. This saddens me to no end because her heath problems prohibit her from doing so much of what she really wants to do.
She sent a mass email today and this is part of it:
As you probably know, I'm starting chemo on friday & I am going to lose my hair. I'm going to have a wig, but I think I'm going to be using a lot of scarves and hats. This is where you come in...
I would love to get scarves from everybody, from everywhere. They're really cheap to ship, cheap to buy and people have them around the house most of the time. If you have a scarf or hat (minimally used. i don't want any house painters sending me their nasty sweat stained hats.) you'd be willing to send me, please just message me through myspace and I'll send you my information.
A friend gave me this idea.. and I guess it's kind of giving me 'hope' that at the end of all this, I can look through each scarf which represents the people in my support group individually. I know a lot of people online who want to be there for me, but can't be because they live in different parts of the world.
Even if you want to send me a postcard. I'd love it.
I went to work right away collecting things to send her and cheer her up, but I feel like I cannot do much alone. If you would like to send her something, especially encouraging words, please let me know. If you would like to do this, please PM me and I'll give you my address and I will send it to her. The reason I'm doing this is because I'm not sure she'd want me to give out her address, and I don't want to ask in hopes I can keep this a surprise, and prevent her from disappointment if nothing comes of it.
If you do this, please include your name and your address/e-mail with what you send, because I know she'd like to use this as a way to make new friends from around the world.
I'd just like her to know how much I love and support her, and show her that even people who haven't had the pleasure of meeting her yet support her too!
Thanks for reading!
