1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / RED INSTEAD handmade - site review please on: January 25, 2007 04:58:58 AM
hi everyone

I have just redone my shop site at:

www.redinstead.com. au

and I would love some opinions - particularly if you think anything needs fixing up or there are any suggestions.  I would also really like some honest opinions on my pricing as it's one thing I find quite hard.  Do you think my prices are reasonable?  Don't forget that the default currency comes up as Australian dollars but you can change it to US (or UK, Euro) in the box on the right hand side).

thanks a lot

Jen

2  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Looking for a sales rep (Canberra, Sydney and/or Melbourne) on: January 07, 2006 01:05:54 AM
I am in Canberra and I make handbags and children's clothing and toys and one of my business goals this year is to get my stuff stocked in boutiques etc around the place.  I am not sure how to find a sales rep.

The only thought I had is asking at a boutique to see if they will give me a business card of one of their current reps but is there anything else I can do to find somebody to rep for my business?

Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated.

thanks

Jen
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Some of my bags... (Red Instead) on: January 02, 2006 02:17:30 AM
Here is a mosaic pic of a bunch of bags I have made over the last five or six months:

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Retro Vintage Stripe Tote with large outside pockets - tutorial on: February 24, 2005 05:38:17 PM
I have been making some bags lately - thanks for the help and inspiration from this board!

Here are two I have made.

The first one is made from reclaimed fabric - vintage curtains.  It is the Jordy but bigger.   I also added a pocket piece on each side of the outside of the bag so there are 3 pockets each side now and it was easy to do.  Makes it very practical now.

Here is a picture with some instructions on what I did:

Once you have sewn the pocket piece on to the bag piece you put the bag together the normal way.  It can be a little hard to get it all through the hole when turning right side out as it makes it bulkier - you can just leave a bigger opening in the lining section and hand sew it afterwards.

Here is another  bag I made.  It is a straight Jordy, although I used cotton webbing for the handles instead of making them from the fabric.  My sister bought the wrong size doona cover at Ikea a while back and when I fixed it for her I kept all the leftover bits for just such a project!

5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Bob, Phil and Gerald - my monsters on: February 24, 2005 04:51:13 PM
Thanks for the great tutorial on these guys - here is my contribution.
They were fun to make and I have plans to make a bunch more...  and graduate to trickier toys.
