111  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Hot water bottle cover on: August 04, 2010 07:17:44 PM
A while back our microwave died, so this winter I've had to go back to a hot water bottle instead of a wheat bag. Perfect chance for a very quick project - It is a really simple design, using some leftover Cleckheaton vintage hues yarn, big needles (7mm I think) and only took a bit under two hours. I made it just a little two short, so there are 3 rounds of crochet around the top.

These look great - and they look like an easy, quick way of using up yarn scraps AND they're useful! Great idea.

What's crystal fill though?

Great choice of colour to go with the buttons - it looks great.

I love the simplicity of this pattern - I recently had a go at the aviatrix baby hat and it's a great pattern, but I like the fact you could use a chunkier yarn for this one. (Or at least you could if you are better at seams than I am...)

I love them! Thanks for the link to the elephant pattern.

So cute. Makes me want to rush out and buy lots of felt!
117  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Knitting needle roll [image heavy] on: December 29, 2009 08:24:37 PM
I made this a while back, most of the fabric is from some fat quarters I picked up on special, but I decided to use a triangle of japanese silk ( I think it's actually a silk/synthetic blend) which came from my grandmother's stash box. I added the embroidery after a workmate told me about sashiko embroidery.

It's a really simple construction, but I'm happy with it.
