11  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap for August 2011 in The Swap Gallery by knitpurl on: August 17, 2011 01:19:06 AM
Hey,

I received my first ATC for this swap yesterday. I had a pretty crap day at work, so it was lovely to find an envelope (all the way from Finland) waiting for me when i got home. Smiley

From Kitiza, for my Autumn theme:

Thanks so much, I love it! (The Stranger is the only Camus book I've read, but I thought it was great and I love the quote you have chosen).

12  Re: One Tiny Thing Miyazaki Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by knitpurl on: April 16, 2011 07:02:30 PM
Hey, I've been a really bad swapper and haven't posted pics yet.

Zzdia sent me a book - hand-bound and filled with water colour drawings of scenes from Miyazaki films.

Since there are so many pics I'm just posting thumbnails, but I highly recommend people click on them to see the detail in each picture.

The cover:

The first page spread, with the swap details and Boh, the bird (can't remember if it had a name) and the soot sprites:

Next page - Totoro!

Then, for some reason I don't have the next page, with Ponyo - I'll have to scan that again.

Turnip head;

Nausicaa:

Then I'm missing the page with Porco Rosso, will scan and post soon.

Scene from Laputa, when they first discover the castle;

Totoro and Kiki;

Princess Monoke:

Laputa, and one of my favourite calcifer quotes;

And last, but not least, Chihiro (this page is my favourite I think - the colours are so beautiful);

Thanks so much zzdia for a fantastic swap!

Hi, I received two cards the other day,.

The first one was from MargiePoo for portraits - she combined it with another of my themes and did a portrait of Jayne from Firefly. It is so cute, and goes with the card that goldsheepbowl made me!

The second one was from ENGRbyDAY, and is for sea creatures. It is a collage of different sea animals on a painted background. It's really beautiful.

Thanks so much, both of you!

Here are two more ATCs which I received yesterday.

From mxer145, a blobfish ATC (for ocean/sea creatures). Blob fish must be the saddest looking creatures on the planet but how cute is this guy! I love it.

And from Goldsheepbowl for Buffy/Firefly/Angel, she made a Jayne hat ATC.

The quote is from the episode where Jayne receives the parcel from his mum containing the hat, "A man walks down the street in that hat, people know he's not afraid of ANYTHING".

Thanks so much!!!

I received two more beautiful ATCs yesterday.

The first was from gogosummer, a hand drawn art nouveau-inspired ATC of a peacock. It is so beautiful, thanks!

And the second was from audio, which was a Frida Kahlo ATC. An ATC of my favourite artist! I love the warm colours in the background, gives it a Mexican feel Smiley.

Thanks to both of you!

Hi - I love the Bette Davis card!

I received 2 cards yesterday. The first one was from AmandaBL for trees. It is done with watercolour and collage. It is has the most beautiful colours - I love watercolour and the way the text looks, showing through the watercolour wash.

The second is from JillHogan for cats. It is collaged, with a real mini yarn ball, and has a lolcat-inspired title "I can haz yarn" - perfect! (I nearly succumbed and said purr-fect  Smiley)

Thanks so much - i love them both!

I received this cute little needle book from dfunk98 yesterday. (It was a crappy day at works, so it was extra nice to come home to find a parcel waiting for me  Smiley)

I really love this fabric.

And here is a photo of the inside - the front and back 'pages' both have pockets for extra bits and pieces:

Thank you dfunk98 for a lovely needlebook, and thanks ramonaQ and penelopewaits for a great swap!

I received 2 cards from suereal - (incorporating 3 of my themes  Smiley). One is a hand drawn steampunk cat and the other is some very cool sea creatures, with glitter and bead embellishments for the octopus tentacles and squid's eyes.

I also took a photo of the envelope, with the cardboard star that was protecting the ATCs and a pile of origami paper (I think there was eight different patterns).  The envelope is made out of a National Geographic cover with pandas on the back and a pic of someone riding a bike on the front.

Suereal said in her letter that since it was going so far she should make it worthwhile - and she totally did!  Grin

Thanks so much!!

OK, so sorry everyone for being so late to post pics.

Here is the first one I received from susanab, "Pop Top Art" for my found objects theme. The colours of the photo are a bit skewed towards yellow, but the colours are really vibrant. The pop top has been attached with wire rather than glued, so it moves just the teeniest bit - just enough to make it more 3-dimensional.  Smiley

This next one is from mxer145 for old buildings. Cause it has a matte surface, I could use a flash, so the pic is a bit sharper than the others and you can see most of the detail. It's really great.

And these last two are from muddy21 and they are both of historic buildings from Exeter, New Hampshire. The first one is my favourite. (Unfortunately, the photos I took are pretty blurry.)

Thanks so much guys - they're all great!
