1  Matching bags for almost-twins in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by rotten rose on: January 12, 2010 06:43:35 PM
My friends' twin daughters had daughters of their own very close together.  The two little cousins like to have everythting the same so I made them matching bags.
After I put the first one together, I decided the handles were too wide for 6yo hands, so I unpicked the absolute bare minimum to get the handles out, then folded them over, sewed down the length and stuck them back in.  I made them a few inches sorter while I was at it.  The handles are much stiffer than they would have been but that's probably a good thing.

2  just about made my eyes bleed! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by rotten rose on: December 28, 2009 10:52:32 PM
What started out as a simple (pillowcase type) bag for a present that was awkward to wrap ended up with a flat bottom with removeable plastic wrapped base and pockets inside and out .
Stripes may make it easier to line things up but they make your brain melt

3  Boxy Make-up bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by rotten rose on: December 09, 2009 07:30:06 PM
I made this bag from the tutorial at http://threebears.wordpress.com/2007/10/15/little-boxy-pouch-tutorial/  and  used the the triangle bag tute http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=176509.0  to help me figure out how to do the lining as part of the construction rather than a separate lining sewn in afterwards (as I've seen in other bags of this type).

It was only a bit fiddly Wink I couldn't sew straight across the ends or the lining and bag would have been sewn together, so I sewed up to the zip rather than over it.  This left me with a very short length of unsewn seam which turned out to be a handy place to put in tags for grip when zipping or unzipping.

I only finished this last night and already it's been "bagged".
measuring 4.5" x3w x2h, my friend says it will be perfect in her handbag.  Another Christmas present sorted!
