22  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: 24 Hour Swap Round 2 GALLERY on: May 07, 2007 06:24:47 PM
I received my awesome package from Krafty_Kelly today! Kelly and I had the longest swap-from Texas to Newfoundland and vice versa! But my goodies are so worth the wait:) I cannot crochet and have just started an Amigurumi collection from all my lovely Craftster buddies-so Kelly made me an adorable lil amigurumi weeble-y type doll! I believe this is Kelly's own pattern? She is soooo cute-I luv her! I shall name her Lucy:)
Kelly also sent me a fab purse chocheted out of recycled shopping bags-woot! and sent Colin two Kinder Eggs which he promptly ate and played with the lil toys inside. We had never heard of Kinder Eggs so that was such a treat!

Thank you Kelly you are one talented lady:)

Lucy!

25  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Swirly Birds collage on: May 04, 2007 02:39:16 AM
these are beautiful! can I ask a question-Did you carve the swirls out before or after the compound dries? Thanks!

I did that while the compound was still wet.  I just used the end of a paintbrush to make the swirls.  This was really fun to make.  If any of you make something like this, I hope it turns out well and you have fun  Smiley

Thanks for the info!

27  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Paper Roses, with a very detailed (and pic obese) tutorial. Pics fixed. on: May 02, 2007 07:00:24 AM
I made a half dozen of these for my partner in the Earth Day Swap. Thanks for the great tutorial-they were easy to make. I did use recycled coffee filters. I didn't have the pearl pin for the center so instead I "fringed" the lil triangle you cut off each filter and glued it over the skewer tip-it looks like a flowers stamen. I also wanted an vintage look so I crumpled the filters before cutting, and after I made each I would crumple, fidget with each rose and sprayed them(several light layers)  with aerosol hairspray to stiffen them.

Teeisme and I love Primitive art so we did a personal Prim swap of 1 large item and 3 ATC's. Tee sent me the best crow, pretending to be a stork-LOL , 3 cards and was a sweetheart by sending me some prim and folk fabric pieces!

the crow is what they call a "make do" in the prim art world-these are very popular right now-(see ebay:). My husband adored it so much he comandered for his office!

Thank you Tee you are a sweetie!

The crow on my messy craft table-see the baby and the "special delivery" sign?

the cards and fabric-yes the fabric is supposed to look stained Grin Grin Grin

Look at the fantastic goodies Christinacoghill sent me! She made the  amigurumi owl off my wist! Yay! And the cutiest little butterfly amigurumi critter! I am so impressed with Christinas handiwork-a fantastic swap partner! Thank you Christina!

and here's 2 pictures of the purse and paperback book cover I sent her. I recently bought a great new book called Fabric Leftovers and I've been wanting to try out some of the techniques used. The purse is made from Latch Hook canvas that has fabric woven in. The book cover is another form of crazy quilting.

This was a great swap!
