Has anyone tried regular acrylic paint on these?  Or sharpie markers?

As to making the butterflies into plant pokes-here's a thought-punch two holes in the middle the the butterflies body, about an inch apart, then "thread" the wooden dowel through the holes, bottom one first, then back through the top hole (like how you use one of the wooden pick/leather hair barrettes).  You could then glue a wooden bead on the end onf the dowel so the butterfly wouldn't fall off.

great tutorial!  I wanted to add that if you didn't have brads you could just do what the store bought versions do and staple the middle.  You'll just need to hold the pieces with a clothespin until you add on all 9 strips, staple, then fiddle with the middle strip to cover the staple
4  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: Thrift Store Question on: May 24, 2008 06:05:35 PM
it's hit or miss at my local thrift shops but I've found tons of old fabric at estate sales.  Sadly, if the owner has died, most family seem to not want the fabric, and theres usually gobs of it.

And here is the awesome card I got today from Retro-Redux. It has lace, ribbon, collage images, you name it! Its way cool. I'm surprised it make it intact, after seeing the shape the envelope was in when I it got here.

Amy-I'm sorry if the envelope was torn up  Embarrassed. I guess the extras didn't survive the damage? I'm glad the card survived though.  Last time I buy envelopes at dollar tree  Embarrassed Embarrassed
