Oh, these are cool and cute! Thanks for linking to the tutorial in your first post - this looks like a perfect way to use up some of those short zippers in the stash. Wink

That's a funny story! Cheesy And a really cute blanket.
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 1950s-inspired Little Black Dress of Win on: October 20, 2012 10:17:58 AM
Sorry I forgot to write anything at first! Cheesy

A LBD made of my own pattern (though based on a free Lekala pattern, the modifications were so extensive it's really my own now). The fabric, ribbed, is mostly rayon, with some stretch but also enough body for the skirt to hold the shape nicely.

My favourite feature, though, is the V-neckline in the back and the shaped sleeve hems. And topstitched facings.

The jacket I'm wearing it with is a 70s thing I got from my friend's mother, with buttons that my grandfather made.

And the sleeve!

May I ask what a Pongal dress is?
17  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Bramaggeddon (aka Building a better bra) on: March 23, 2010 04:19:58 AM
There actually are handsewing stitches with some stretch in them. I just don't know the names in English---with most of them not even in Czech. I just experiment with it.

Sew by hand? Roll Eyes
That's my solution when my machine drives me crazy, but I don't know whether it would work for you.

I'm glad it's still helpful... even though I shudder at some of my old English now. Cheesy
20  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: A pod of plushie narwhals! - pattern/instructions on page 3!! on: December 18, 2009 12:43:46 AM
I've just realised that a narwhal is exactly what I want to sew my friend as a gift for her birthday... which was yesterday. I wanted to sew her a cat, but that would be too complicated and would take too long. This is quite simple and yet adorable and unpredictable, perfect combination!
