1  Re: Altered Spool Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Ramona Q on: July 08, 2014 02:16:02 PM
It came! It came! There were moments of doubt and after three long weeks my spool from Mariak came! She went with my theme of woodland people.

Here it is:

And a close up of the spool:

And a close up of the gnome!

Thank you so much Maria, I love it! Grin

I have some more photos of the spool I made. Thanks for all the interest. This spool was difficult to photograph but thankfully I've just made a light tent. Maria said that she and her daughter love fairies, so I decided to make a fairy villa.

Here's a shot of the front:

I have a dollhouse/minaiture store a block away from me. That's where I got the house. Then I added a super mini spool to the top of the bell tower to give the house a fairy feel. Covered the roofs with fancy ribbon fluff, and added some foliage and there you go.

Here's a picture of the super mini spool next to a regular sized spool:

Eek! I just love tiny replicas of inanitmate objects Cheesy

And here's a side pick. You can see the spool peeking out of the bell tower:

So happy you liked it mariak!

3  Altered Tin- a blessing for sewers in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Ramona Q on: May 26, 2014 11:52:56 AM
This past month I've really be into sewing. And when I was in my local miniature store (yup, there is a store just down the street from me that sells miniature and dollhouse supplies Wink) I found some of the cutest, and smallest sewing notions I have ever seen. They seemed perfect for using in an altered craft. So I bought them and made this:

I called it A Blessing for Sewer.

Here's a close up of the inside:

I took the label off a vintage spool from my stash. I can't remember where I got the picture of the woman. Probably from Alpha Stamps. I got the sewing machine, spools of thread, buttons, yarn stick (shown in next picture) and scissors from the miniature store. I used one of my many thimbles to set the sewing machine on.

All of the lace used is vintage. I wrote the blessing (and added the word 'be' between always and straight).

And outside:

I had some scrap booking paper that looked like a sewing pattern in my stash and used that for the outside of the tin.

Thanks for looking!

8  Re: Prayer Flag Swap Rd 3--GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by Ramona Q on: April 04, 2013 07:52:20 PM
Love the 'believe in impossible things' flag. What wonderful colours! PerfectlyBohemian your flags look awesome together.

Ramona Q--need a little more details on how you did it!

I made the out side of the box flag with rug hooking canvas. The long strands were done using traditional rug hocking method. The top flat part I just wove wool though the grid. Here's a close up shot

The peonies are dead simple to make. You just melt polyester fabric!!! Seriously so much fun to do and they have so many uses. Here's the blog with a tutorial:http://creaturecomfortsblog.com/home/2012/4/3/diy-fabric-peony-flower-accessories-gift-toppers.html

I received from FoxyBlue today!!! It's a flag featuring my favourite colours blue and red!!!

The theme is perspective and I believe the eye is made out of a fabric yo-yo and button. It's wonderful, thank you FoxyBlue Cheesy Cheesy

I received my first prayer flag in the mail yesterday! It's from Suereal and the words she chose are play, accept and grow. In my questionare I said that I wanted my flags to be so bright and loud that the would be compelled to blow by and take my prayers on her back. Well, thanks to Suereal, there is no way the wind will ever miss my awesome flag!!!

There are bells attached to every ribbon!

This is a close up of the words Suereal used. So cleaver to stamp them onto metal.

This is an action shot of my flag. I really love it and part of me want to keep it inside so it won't get ruined by the weather. Then I thought, isn't that the point of prayer flags? What we call ruined is really the prayer flag living its life and doing its job. But I want this prayer flag to have a fighting chance against the last few weeks of a Canadian winter, so I hung it under my porch roof.

Thank you so much Suereal. I love it!!!!!!
