1  OH My Gosh - I actually finished something!! (My First Hat :) ) in Crochet: Completed Projects by GossamerFlame on: October 31, 2006 11:11:37 PM
I'm a chronic starter - not usually a finisher. I get bored mid-way and put things aside and don't complete them. But I actually did it this time! I made something I can wear even too!

Made from a pattern found here. I have a ton of Simply Soft sitting around though so I used that for yarn instead. This project was fast, probably could be done in one night if you're not a crochet noob like me Wink. Also, it was definitely a case of "keep going" - after the first 5 rounds or so I thought I wasn't doing it right because it didn't look like the pattern yet. Well, I just hadn't given it enough time. After some MORE rounds the pattern began to clearly show and I was very pleased.

Over all I'm happy. My first hat - and it wasn't just a simple SC in the round! And the only really ODD looking spot is where my joins were - I somehow messed it up, but it really doesn't look that bad.

I'm a picky perfectionist though so I see some things I don't like. I'm not sure I like the color changing - one solid color might have been nicer. And the bill didn't turn out how I wanted, mostly because I COMPLETELY messed it up (one [there is a bottom and a top part] was almost a half inch longer than the other, oops! - and instead of fixing it I just used it lol) - and I'm also not sure I like the bill with my face shape.

I will proudly wear this puppy around my apartment though Smiley. Plans are in the works already to use different yarn (I have some wool-ease that'd be yummy for this) and to do a few more rounds to make it a big longer, and to leave the bill off (which is easy enough to do). I'm definitely addicted to making hats now though. I've decided I NEED to have one with ear flaps so that's now on the to-do list too Wink

Just had to show off my first hat!! Sorry I babble so much Smiley
