11  Rutland (cabled, wool cardigan) - (NEW PICS) Just in time for summer! in Knitting: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: June 03, 2011 11:35:05 AM
Yup, finished this a few days ago, so it won't get any use until October (here in Georgia).  It's made with seven skeins of Cascade 220 Heathers and seven SHEEP BUTTONS, although the pictures are crappy so you can't see the detail.  The photos were taken quickly and I'll get some more professional ones done when I'm ready to write up the pattern (btw, it is my own design).  My Ravelry project page for it is here:  http://www.ravelry.com/projects/TheYarnBearer/rutland

Okay, I'm editing this post to add new, better pictures.  Also, the pattern is finished.

12  Alabama Chanin leotard for aerial performance in Costumes: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: April 20, 2011 07:55:32 AM
I love the Alabama Chanin books and have wanted to incorporate the handiwork into one of my aerial silks leotards.  I think this took about two weeks of me works on it every night and I love it.  I don't really consider it "finished" though because I think, over time, I'll add more beads/sequins here and there.  The handiwork is one on the leotard, I wear separate, plain legging to protect my legs from getting burned.  Also, the stencil is from the first AC book.  (Unfortunately, I can't find any shots of my just standing, not performing, to get a good view of the leotard... meh.)

Update:  August 2, 2011
So, I added on to my costume!  There are some sequin flowers, a dangly trim around the thighs, and some fabric flowers that I also beaded and painted some fabric shimmery stuff on.  Even better than before:

NEW ADDITIONS!

(This was photo shoot from the other day with Holly Himawari, for a SCAD project.)

And if you're interested in the performance I used it for, this past weekend, you can see it here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FV76PERKcQM

13  Cabled pullover (from free, online pattern) in Knitting: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: January 11, 2011 02:14:34 PM
The pattern is from Lion Brand's website and is free (http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/L0187AD.html?noImages=0&r=1&r=1), however there are errors.  They've updated some of the errata, but there's a lot more than what's available on the pattern page, so be warned (you can check out my Ravelry project page to see some of the errors I found and how I corrected them:  http://www.ravelry.com/projects/TheYarnBearer/cabled-pullover-and-cowl)).  But for now, let's enjoy the cable goodness -

I used Malabrigo Worsted (Pearl colorway) and a smaller gauge.  I'm pretty happy with it, I wanted it more fitting than the pattern indicates, so I used US 8 needles throughout and knitted in the round.

14  Bitter End Sweater - original! in Knitting: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: December 24, 2010 07:26:56 AM
I designed this sweater based on one I saw on Anthropologie.com (here's the inspiration:  http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?navAction=jump&id=19725464).  But after reading reviews, it's an unflattering a-line, so I made mine with a fitted waist.  I used Cascade Ecological Wool (2 skeins) and US 10 needles, circular/seamless from the bottom up.  It ended up being a pretty quick knit.  (Ravelry project page:  http://www.ravelry.com/projects/TheYarnBearer/bitter-end).

15  Betty: Bolero with a vintage flair! in Knitting: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: August 03, 2010 05:24:19 PM
This took 6 skeins of Tahki Yarns' Replay (which is an awesome, recycled cotton).  It's a cropped shrug/bolero with a frilled hem and pleated sleeve caps.  I designed this one myself, I think I'd like to see it in wool (or alpaca), too.  That would be pretty sweet for the fall/winter (our winter's in Savannah are pretty mild).  More pics on the Ravelry page:  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/betty-11

16  Snow White in Mmmmalabrigo in Knitting: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: June 27, 2010 02:44:11 PM
I finished my Snow White sweater (pattern by Ysolda Teague), bust size 32".  I used just 3.25 skeins of the Malabrigo Worsted.

17  New Babeh (with free pattern link) in Knitting: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: June 27, 2010 02:40:11 PM
I designed this sweater for my friend who is expecting.  It's made with 2.5 skeins of Rowan Cotton Rope and is sized for babies up to 10 lbs.  You can grab the free pattern riiight here:  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/new-babeh.  Enjoy!

I was able to knit this in just two day, but if you're in a rush and have the time, I'm sure it can be completed in a day.

18  Sprout Sweater in Knitting: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: February 17, 2010 05:27:10 PM
I call this one Sprout.  It's a funnel neck, top-down, seamless child's sweater in Lamb's Pride Worsted (colorway 105 RPM Pink).  It took three skeins an was a quick knit.  I designed it myself and will make it a free pattern download on Ravelry (a nice, clean pdf file), in sizes 2/3 (4/5, 6/7).  I knit this one in size 6/7 for my daughter, it's long and roomy enough that she'll be able to wear it for a good while.

19  Celeste Capelet in Knitting: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: February 04, 2010 04:02:19 PM
This is my own design, made with three skeins of Aslan Trends Del Cerro in a light silver color.  There's a bit of crochet at the top that makes a nice framing collar.  I'm pretty happy with it.

20  Mrrrphmrrf Cowl part deux in Knitting: Completed Projects by DropKickGrl on: February 04, 2010 03:56:45 PM
I made another Mrrrphmrrf Cowl in brown (well, the color is Wood in Lion Brand's Thick & Quick).  Very fast, cozy knit.

Only takes about 315 yards, which is awesome (and not terrible when you're on a budget, like me).
