I would LOVE a teaser!   Smiley

I'm posting one in the gallery, then!  Grin

I needed some extra inspiration, so I cullenized one of my dolls today (he usually wears dark brown hair). he's now sitting here next to me holding the finished item. too bad I don't have any golden eyes...

I love that necklace with the rabbit! so cute  Grin and the skully scarf is great too!

my partner cataplum told me he received on saturday, but I think the fact of not having internet home makes it difficult for her to post pictures, so I'm going to share the ones I took before sending  Tongue

I made her a wallet, and even though it suffered cat attack and broke two of my sewing machine needles, I am very happy with how it turned out and am making another one for myself!

the cover, and closed

I'd love to see some action pics! and I'm glad you liked it  Wink

I'm glad she liked it all - but she seems to have forgotten the biggest item at the bottom of the box!

 Shocked I think she didn't see that! I'll ask her to look better as soon as she comes back home later today

I'm glad that you liked it, it was real fun crafting everything ^^

and I am so proud of my friend, who wanted to participate and made the tudor rose earrings for sajona. can you believe it was her first time doing anything with fimo? I took a pic of them before sending, so I can ask her to make me another pair  Grin

we received! Cheesy well, my best friend received Wink sajona had a difficult swap because she was crafting for my best friend, who is a compelte tudor freak, and what can I say... sajona is a amazing crafter and my best friend is in awe at everything. se here we go!

group shot:

a beautiful cross-point embroidered pincushion! well, a booklet-pincushion. my friend has started to sew not to long ago so it's really useful and already storing all her needles. check out the cross point design: oak leaves and acorns, a very important Tudor motif

a very cute decoupaged round box with tudor roses and little oak leaves:

a notebook with tudor roses and oak leaveas on the cover:

a lovely note for my friend with roses on it:

and a wooden frame showing a poem by Sir Philip Sidney. the white roses were painted and cut out by hand!

the poem reads:

My true-love hath my heart, and I have his,
By just exchange one for the other given:
I hold his dear, and mine he cannot miss;
There never was a bargain better driven.
His heart in me keeps me and him in one;
My heart in him his thoughts and senses guides:
He loves my heart, for once it was his own;
I cherish his because in me it bides,
My true-love hath my heart, and I have his.

Sir Philip Sidney (1581)

she loved it all, sajona! thank you very very very much  Kiss

30  an owl and a doll in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by silverfisch on: February 01, 2008 12:19:24 PM
I was so inspired by the last round of the owl swap... and I had the most inspiring partner ever. so I made what I was supposed to do: owls Grin

I found an amazing vintage pattern of an owl and I decided to try it out. thanks to this pattern I learnt many crochet tricks, and also what chenille stems are (would you ever guess they are called "limpiapipas" in Spanish??). so, my version:

side view:

and back view so you can see the long tail... he and one of my cats are having a staring-in-the-eyes contest Grin Grin

both wings and tail are longer than the body, so he has to stand on something and have the wings and tail fall on the sides. it's done with different type of yarns with shiny specks and 3.5mm (E) and 5.0mm (H) hooks. the feathers of the wings and tail, as well as the beak, eye pieces and horns, are done the 3.5 hook. the body and wings with the 5.00. his claws are chenille stems.

I had big issues with the eyes. the only yellow ones I had were very... strange. you could almost see no difference between the iris and the pupil, so I painted the back of the iris white. with the white background, the yellow of the iris is much more intense.it worked out much better than I had thought

I love him <3

I also made a little doll based on the Celtic legend of Blodeuwedd, the woman made of flowers that was transformed into an owl. here she is naked next to the owl:

for the head and body I used Rheatheylia's lavender bunny instructions, and they were oh so perfect. I used a 3.5 hook too. the arms and legs are not stuffed, like the amineko (pic from the official website, just in case you don't know the amineko  Wink )

this allows her to pose. her eyelids are simple stitches over the eyes

I made her a little strapless crocheted dress with plain double crochet in the bodice and shells for the skirt, and a little flower pin following this tute with thin thread and a 2mm hook (that's smaller than your B hook). here's she already dressed and flirting Cheesy

and a last one of her, with the flower pin on her hand, chillin' with my evas Grin

this is the original owl shown in the pattern, so that you can compare. I know the colors are very different... but in my city there's just two shops that sell very few yarns, so you have to work with what you can get...

I'd love to have your opinions and criticism, since I plan on doing a second owl for me (this one is currently being cuddled and loved by her new owner Wink ). I was very pleased with the outcome, but then I'm biased since he's my baby...  Roll Eyes

thanks everybody for looking!!
