these are cool, how did you drill the holes. I have tried using a dremmel type tool but no joy, Perhaps I was using the wrong bit (I tried a number of different kinds)

I am sooo glad you like it, I have to say that bag was hard to part with, I really do like your artwork and I liked how it turned out. I especially like that the randomn piece of vintage wool blanket that I dyed as a test piece turned out to be the perfect colour and texture for the base of the applique.

Crafting is going OK, as usual I have signed up to lots of swaps...I am a complete swap-tart, so I had a few things to finish up, that and trying to make a dent in my enormous stash...All I need is more crafting time, and *fingers crossed* I might have an unexpected day off tomorrow..cue: lots and lots of sewing. I seriously have to stay off craftster though I do that instead of crafting.

Spring is slowly slowly starting to arrive here, the gorse bushes on the mountains are starting to bloom their beautiful deep yellow, I am still waiting for the willow in my garden to put out its fuzzy buds, very impatient for spring this year it was a long trying winter.

this is a great pattern and would look fantastic if upsized for more curvaceous crafters, the empire waistline would smooth over a big tummy (like mine!) but with out gathers into the waistband which make me look pregnant.

Sadly I would be about about 6 sizes larger than that pattern and it seems like a lot of work to resize it!
3336  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Decorate My Place Swap (sign ups 2/5-2/21 send outs 4/4) on: February 17, 2009 02:46:17 AM
Oh I am so in, I love swaps and i love functional things. I love to sew and sew a lot, and have an outrageously large stash of fabrics, so I need to be partnered with someone who wants something sewn as I havent the patience to knit or crochet. I also paint and do shrines, paper arts generally...

what do i need....lol nothing actually as I am such a packrat that I have so much stuff already...but what do I want....ah..that is a different question, pillowcases, duvet cover, bed coverings generally, art for my walls, I am slowly amassing a collection of craftster artwork....anything that organises me or my stash...

Running off to send in my questionaire for this swap...*waving to the always fabulous RhondaS from the pagan swap*
3337  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: what would you sew with if.... on: February 17, 2009 01:14:17 AM
actually a corset made of carpet would be amazing!! and it wouldnt need any boning at all as it would stand up by itself. and be very touchable

in fact I want one

BTStars

I think if you sanded down the buttons first to give a rough surface then you could write on them, and you could finish them off with a coat of modgepodge or thinned PVA glue to make them a little more durable...I am not sure how durable though!

That is OK I do understand, but a bleach stop? that is I assume something that will neutralise it, OK I am tired now so correct me if I am wrong, but bleach is an alkali so vinegar would work.

Basically you tie it and put it in a bleach/water solution for how long? then neutralise it with an acid? and rinse it.

Cold water I guess, I actually have never 'washed' leather, I always assumed that it would make it hard.

Wow fab
I love leather and am a tie dye fan, so some more questions. What dye did you use for the leather, I am assuming you used regular tie dyeing techniques.
