31  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Altered Spool Swap Gallery on: June 26, 2014 07:27:26 AM
So my fellow fabulous swappers, have you had the experience of having a really crappy day and then getting a swap package, it is wonderful as it is a bright spot in an awful day...turns out a swap package on a good day makes the day even better. Today is a good day. I am just at the start of my academic holidays (weeks and weeks of them, very very lucky me) and I dusted of my little camper van, she had to go for a roadworthiness test and she passed with flying colours...she has her own thread here..http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=343917.msg3998899#msg3998899 (france here we come!)

and to cap it off, I got this amazing spool from smmarrt. it is all Alice in wonderland/cups of tea themed and it is fabulous. I really love it. Unfortunately the cup and saucer and little plate of cookies (LOVE!) came adrift, I know they should be glued to the top of the spool, but I am waiting for my partner to tell me where exactly.

and I got spoiled with a few extras...chocolate...mmm...and these really clever little notebooks, I think they are made from altered coffee sleeves, very clever. And I also love the card that she sent.

This is the card added to my 'love wall' in the kitchen.

Thanks so much Susan. As ever it is fabulous swapping with you xx

thanks for all of the nice words on that creepy childhood shrine. It wasn't meant to be creepy at all, but you know how sometimes a piece gets away from you and goes in an entirely different direction than you had intended This one completely had a mind of it's own.

I have one teeny tiny complaint, Miss C, and that is you didn't sign your work. So the next time we trade something (inchies, altered puzzle pieces, fabric), you must send me your autograph so I can attach it to the shrine.

Ha! I never think of that...I will send you a bunch of signatures and you can credit me with everyone else's work as well.

I should have said that the two spools and the buttons that support the arms in that piece came from an antiques market in austria..I scored a great old sewing box full of notions...

So the postman arrived today, he brought this wonderful package from my anna.wahnsinn We had agreed to take more than the one hour crafting time, and then (luckily for me!) she couldn't decide which bracelet to send me. The red one is my theme of hearts, action shot.......

and the blue one from my theme of the seaside...

if this wasn't enough spoiling, she also made a really pretty necklace to match.

action shot...squinting at the setting sun... (how do I hate thee selfies...let me count the ways)

all three together...so you can see the heart one more clearly...as a lovely touch, they have gorgeous little heart clasps..

Thank you Anna, I really love all of them..I wanted to wear both bracelets at the same time going out earlier, but my 19 year old daughter stopped me..
as Kathe Lette says. 'Living with a teenage daughter is like living with the Taliban. Mothers are not allowed to dance, sing, flirt, laugh loudly or wear short skirts. - (although she is not quite that bad...and she definitely approved of the Jewellery Anna)

I love the long handles, the bags really hang at my side (and not in my armpit) and I can wear them across the body, too.

the other thing that works with the long handles, if you have really heavy shopping, tie two bags together and sling them over your shoulder, makes them much easier to carry...

and THREE tote bags?Huh??

yeah, my partner and I agreed to craft for longer than the hour, but also sewing is very fast for me and thye are not lined, they are for groceries.... so they didn't take too long to do...

anna. I love the photos with the little grabby hand in the corner...brilliant!

this was a great swap, when is the next one??

So I did a bit of fast sewing today, I used some of leapfeetfirst's fabric and made this tea cosy. I didn't want to cut into the fabric too much, so I left it mostly square. It has it's own thread here... http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=433640.0#axzz32YjREJrX
