1  Craft Swaps / ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED / Re: Harry Potter - I Want to Live in the Burrow Swap (SU END TODAY NOON; Send 7/11) on: June 19, 2016 05:12:11 AM
Note from the Headmistress Swap Organizer....

Reminder that Signups for this swap end TODAY!  Right now we have an even number of swappers.  I plan to stay open till noon, Central Standard Time.  (If you are in another part of the country/world, and don't know what time that is, then please Google it folks!)

If we have an even number at that time, I'll close.  If we have an odd number, I *may* keep it open longer to see if we can even it up, or simply set up a group of 3 in a Round Robin.  If you are planning on signing up, but worried that you won't make it by noon: then please send me a PM to let me know, so I can hold things open while you finish your questionnaire!

if you end up with an uneven number and it works with swap rules, I am happy to have two partners.

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: ~*HP Craftalong - Midsummer Semester 2016*~ on: June 16, 2016 07:44:27 AM
two more in my project dump, I have recently started to do some pocket letters, these were two that were sent in a swap

Class/Challenge/House Pride:SOAR
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Dragonfly Pocketletter
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: Another one for a swap, my standby crafts for swaps are always papercrafts or sewing, not to mention that sticking stuff and drawing stuff makes me happy, This theme was dragonflies, mostly freehanded on watercolour backgrounds

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Transfiguration
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Cats pocket letter
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I made 9 cats, they are on watercoloured background with washi tape, drawn freehand with a sharpie.
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: ~*HP Craftalong - Midsummer Semester 2016*~ on: June 16, 2016 07:38:53 AM

noodlebug another lovely blanket square, I am really looking forward to seeing the finished work
whistlefish those coasters are great, I love the colour scheme
audio I am jealous of your clothing so far. I love your OWL proposal, it would be really good as a craftalong.
FibreAlchemistthose hanks of yarn are really pretty colours, the shawl will be amazing
midkiffsjoy That mending is brilliant, so so clever

It has been a busy few weeks but finally I have time and internet to post some things

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Apparition
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Pair of flamingo pillowcases
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I used the burrito method of making these pillowcases from some brilliant flamingo fabric that I received in a swap. There is just enough in a FQ for the edge of these. The darker pink fabric is one I dyed a million years ago, but the colours look well. One tip that I have found really useful when choosing colours is a little colour print of the colour wheel, When confronted with a lot of possible options it really helps to narrow things down.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Arithmancy
SPEW: (If your item is for charity, enter that here; if not leave blank or add n/a.)
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Fake indigo dyeing
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I love dyeing of any kind. Tie Dying is like opening a mystery parcel, you never know what you will get. I also love indigo dying, I did some once in a workshop, but it is a bit of a faff. So I just used a strong blue fibre reactive dye. I used a few different shibori folding methods for these, but if I had more patience I would do some stitched tying.

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Astronomy
SPEW: (If your item is for charity, enter that here; if not leave blank or add n/a.)
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: Tie Dying
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: In addition to the fake indigo, I had fun with some regular dyeing. I am the messiest worker in the world, you should have seen the state of me when I was finished this, Therefore for me dyeing requires sunshine, because I have to do it outside of the house. We had tie dyeing weather here. back to rain now. Sad

Class/Challenge/House Pride: COMC
SPEW: (If your item is for charity, enter that here; if not leave blank or add n/a.)
House: Ravenclaw
Project Name: heart merangiue
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: This recipe requires exactly 5 ingredients. The four in this recipe. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/life/food/recipes/article3935066.ece Best recipe for meringues BTW, never fails...and the fifth ingredient is some food colouring. I use a paste and some toothpicks. Make the meringues as in the recipe and put them in heaps on baking parchment. Then gently swirl a small amount of food colouring into the surface of the uncooked meringue with a toothpick. Don't use too much as if you have blobs it will stain your mouth. The merigues puff up a bit in baking, but the swirls remain intact.

Serve with fresh whipped cream and fresh berries..yum!!

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Box of Sunshine Round 2 on: June 16, 2016 06:59:31 AM
Finally finally! after our dear organiser and I had given this up for lost, it arrived!! And sunshine was badly needed as we have had ridiculous rain for the last two weeks..

Onto the wonderful goodies, first out were these three really cheerful pillowcases, these will really brighten up my bed. YOu can also see some great notecards that she made, in this picture

and more in this. I really like these the colours and designs are great, with a dragon fly! And she included these excellent stripy laces and a yummy burts bees lipbalm.

but they all paled when i took out the last item. This brilliant shrine. I adore shrines in any case, but this one is great, so sunny and shiny. I love the teensy birdhouse.

thank you so much gala, I was so bummed when I thought this one was lost forever. The time it took to arrive was crazy, about three times as long as normal, but I am just happy that it got here.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Pocket Letter Swap 1 Gallery on: June 16, 2016 06:52:27 AM
Awe thanks for letting me know sister!  Maybe we are twins they say we all have one!  I got a little worried that after it was mailed I should have put it inside another envelope!  Whew sounds like it made it safely though!  Glad you like it

we are so twins! So much of what you do and like I am the same..even down to getting my little camper van on the road this year.
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Pocket Letter Swap 1 Gallery on: June 16, 2016 06:50:50 AM
Finally I get to post this, I had internet outage and finally this morning no electricity! Too much rain in Ireland, wouldn't you think that we would have learned to cope with it by now.

Anyway I am now on  fast internet...yay so i can share you the wonderful PL from quaggy. She went with my theme of flamingos. And I love this, it is so cheery in all the rain

The whole thing out of the covers.

The back with the really cool stuff, including this brilliant pendant!! I love this.

gratiutous close up cleavage shot

some of the individual ones. I love this quote

The watercolour (?) is brilliant

this is my favourite. Although it is really hard to choose a favourite

and these are my two PL together, look how brilliantly they go together, I am considering taking them out of the pockets and putting them into a frame for a big picture, what do you think?

this was a brilliant swap, thanks for organising geekgirl
