Yay! That's so great!

I want one now...
712  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: lets draw with sharpies on: June 27, 2006 04:08:40 PM
I sharpied shoes with sea animals and bubbles! Just be careful 'cause the ink bleeds along the grain of the fabric a little.

I'd probably write a verse of a nonsense poem, like "Jaberwocky" by Lewis Carrol.  I'm the type of person that strays away from very serious quotes, expecially when it comes to decorating bags or clothes...

I do like " A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men" ~ Roald Dahl

You could make a really simple but beautiful sillhouette of a tree (start with tthe trunk, naturally branch off, forget the leaves)

Scatter the whole thing with different colours and sizes of stars.
713  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Dress like collage type thing....pretty nifty on: June 27, 2006 04:00:57 PM
It's so beautiful! I'm a huge fan of collages.  What did you use as an adhesive?  Just glue? It seems shiny so maybe you used acrylic medium...
714  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Re: MTV's SWEET 16! I made AVA's dress![PIC] on: June 27, 2006 03:29:27 PM
Weird, I watched that episode today.  I usually stear clear of MTV, but it was so hot that I took my knitting to the basement.

You did a fabulous job!
715  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / painted tap shoes! on: June 27, 2006 03:22:31 PM
I don't tap dance, but a friend of mine does!  I bought the shoes last summer at a garage sale for her studio intending on painting them for a costume of Columbia from Rockey Horror Picture show.  I looked up pictures of those shoes and was really disapointed.

So when my art teacher gave us a project that was to involve shoes either as a subject or as a support, I lept at the chance. I sanded off the original polish and cut off the straps, then painted them with acrylic paints.

Comments always make me feel loved!

Some of you requested pictures, so here they are.

Front

And back

I made these instead of studying for my physics midterm back in January...  They became a huge hit with the head of the bio department of my school.  I've also had a male friend of mine say "wow" while looking at my bum when I was wearing them.  That made me laugh.
717  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: BollyWood Theme party on: June 26, 2006 06:09:03 PM
Put bangles and bhindis in the loot bags.  I have a lot of brown friends and apart from the saris, it's the jewelry I covet the most.

OOH! And curry! Serve curry and naan!
718  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Easy pirate sock ideas? on: June 26, 2006 03:58:30 PM
Thanks so much!   Grin The Jack Sparrow ones would be perfect, but I get frustrated too easily to try that for my first pair... Maybe for her next birthday?  I think I'll try my hand at the other skull and crossbones one, though.  Yay! *rushes off to buy yarn*
719  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: I got 50 records for free on: June 25, 2006 03:43:16 PM
I'd cover some cardboard or other stiff material with fabric and hot glue rows of the 45s on the board, make another one just like it, and attach the two sides with more fabric to make a bag.  I'm betting you could sell them.

Make a purse or a quilt! Denim quilts are the greatest.
