1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: half circle cloak - 1 piece vs 2 on: October 06, 2008 09:46:06 AM
thanks, but i'm a bit of an idiot and bought the fabric already, not realizing i'd be limited by its width ><.  it was the best thing i could find for my purposes (i'm doing a little red riding hood costume too  Wink).  it's all lovely and red and warm S2, and everything else was either not warm enough or stretch (i probably won't have time to line anything).  that's actually what made me ask the question in the first place.  lucky you, i live halfway into the middle of nowhere, so no fancy specialty shops for me.
i didn't think about gathering it a bit at the neck, though, that could be lovely, thanks!

thank you all for your advice
and i.am.flowerchild, that's exactly my problem, i'm trying to decide between wether or not i should put in seams and make a longer cloak, or just make a shorter cloak to avoid seams.
since i want to avoid additional structure, i think i'm just going to make it shorter.
though how much structure can one seam add?

thanks again, everyone Grin

hi, i was wondering if any of you who have make capes/cloaks using a semi-circle of fabric, have made them using two pieces sewn together up the back instead of just one full semi-circle?  does making the cloak from two pieces instead of one affect the drape at all?

a cool curvy tail?
mostly when people do the cat costumes (that i've seen anyways), they forget the tail.
and a little Hello Kitty style bow?

7  CANADA / Ontario / cheap fabric in Guelph? on: September 30, 2008 02:26:23 PM
hey so i just moved to Guelph, and was wondering if anyone knows of any good, cheap fabric stores here?  Or would i just be better off going to the Wal-Mart or Fabricland?
8  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Help with Ring Master Costume (a bit link heavy) on: September 30, 2008 11:56:45 AM
well i've never done it, so don't take my word for it, but couldn't you just make an A-line skirt or something a bit longer and wider at the bottom than the dimensions you want your actual skirt to be, make and then gather it in places like in the pic? maybe cut the bottom of each side of the skirt so that it has a scalloped edge before?
