202  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Flavored Iced Tea recipe (EDIT 7/2/06) on: June 30, 2006 05:30:37 PM
While dining at Davis Kidd's bistro, I got the inspiration to use flavored Bigelow teas for iced tea.
I love cinnamon, so my first venture has been Cinnamon Stick tea, but there are tons of other flavors that I think would be awesome tea flavors.

 (EDIT: Pitcher should be 2-quarts)

Here are some other flavors I noted:
raspberry royale
french vanilla
vanilla hazelnut
vanilla almond
vanilla caramel
cherry vanilla
orange & spice
perfect peach
cranberry apple
pomegranate pizzazz
peppermint
blueberry harvest (must try that one for my dad; huge blueberry fan, that one Cheesy)

204  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Disco-Ball lattice-back top on: June 28, 2006 11:32:29 PM
I got this gorgeous silver slip dress for a semi-ball back in 2000. I wore it again for my senior pictures photoshoot. Here's a before-shot:

It got WAY too short as I continued to grow after high school (craziness), so I decided to make it a sexy top I can wear out again without worrying that I'll catch a draft.
I ripped out the back seam and took it in on each side and added pieces of a satin cord into the seams and laced it up with the remaining satin cord.

Voila!

Right now, I can't take it off  Cheesy

Love the sequins! Is the back black or white?
It's black like the sides panels. I made a tube top first out of a black tee and then attached the S panel to the front. Being my first project, there wasn't a lot of structure involved when I started it, and along the way, I had to keep myself in line :p

and i rather comment in here than on LJ where people decided to get vicious for atention  Cheesy I wonder what the moderator is doing ......
Ahahaha. I know exactly what you mean. I hardly ever comment on there anymore, I mean, how many people are there really on there not on craftster? Cheesy

Aside from that, I love the shirt. And are my eyes deceiving me or did you put the coolest sparkly black fabric as the top band?!?!

The top and bottom band are both from an awesome little dress that I used to call my "disco ball dress" that had a black base with thousands of little multi-colored discs. Sometime later this month, I'm going to make a lattice-back shirt out of the top half of the dress.. Thank you!
208  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Superman Halter Top on: June 20, 2006 02:11:33 AM
Today I completed my very first T-shirt surgery, and I'm still freaking out that I actually did it. A year ago, I could only dream about making such lovelies out of my scraps. Now I have the sewing machine to do it!

My boyfriend is a Superman fanatic, and next Tuesday, we're going downtown to see the first showing on the big-big screen. When going downtown, I like to dress up, and I loved the idea of surprising him with devotion to his obsession (combined with fun glittery silverness of course).

My friend Bethi had a Superman shirt that was shrunken and yellowing in spots, so I cut up the front panel, added it to a tube top, stuck on a ribbon neck strap, added sequins to the borders of the panel, and used an old too-short disco-ball dress for the top and bottom. End product:

(forgive my boyfriend and his film studenty angled shots)
