1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / paisley double knitting chart? on: December 04, 2007 10:15:44 AM
Hello Everyone!

In a few weeks I will be on vacation from work and school, and would like to take on a slightly challenging double knit scarf project.

I my mind I see a paisley or paisley-like design... but I can't seem to find a chart/pattern any where.  Maybe it's not possible since your only using two colors?

I'm thinking about trying to make my own on graph paper... but I thought I'd ask if anyone knew of one before making more work for myself.

Otherwise I might just attempt this one instead:

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Need help from someone with a smallish foot! on: December 02, 2007 07:35:42 PM
Hello!

I am making a pair of socks for a friend for x-mas, but i'm not sure how long to make the foot... I don't want to go by my foot because I wear a size 9/10ish and she's only a 5/6ish!

I suppose I could measure a shoe at a shoe store... but I thought if there were any other craftsters out there who had smallish feet they could give me an approximate measurement.  It doesn't have to be exact, the pattern is quite stretchy!

Thanks in advance!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / 2 socks at a time (Magic Loop) tips on: November 25, 2007 05:28:24 PM
So I'm attempting to knit two socks at the same time for the first time.  I just finished up the toes on each, but I'm having a really hard time keep the two balls of yarn from getting all tangled up!

I'm also wishing I had circular needles with a more flexible cable.  I have a pair of addi turbos, but they are only 16 inches so I can't really fit two socks on them.  I'm using Susan Bates Quicksilver needles.  They are not terrible, but I think the addi's are better.

Any advice on how to keep the yarn from getting all tangled?
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Crooked Cable Socks! on: November 18, 2007 07:26:38 AM
Actually... I finished these over the summer, but am just getting around to putting them on my blog so I thought I'd share them here too!  The pattern is from http://sockbug.blog-city.com/, with a few modifications.  Instead of knitting from the top down, I went from the toe up (personal preference) and I made the cables mirror each other rather than go the same way, thought it would be cute.  I used KnitPicks Essential (because I'm on a budge!), I think the color was called pumpkin (perfect for fall!).  Let me know what you think!

Close up of the cables:

Here is another sock I just finished at the movies last night (on a sidenote, I do not recommend going to see Beowulf, I did not like it very much).  Unfortunately, I'm not looking forward to making the second sock... although the pattern of the yarn works up nicely, knitting every row was really boring!

5  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Cabled Cardigan from new Vogue Knitting on: December 27, 2006 09:18:16 PM
I just got the new issue of Vogue Knitting in the mail today and I'm in love with the cabled cardigan on page 86.  It is so cute, I love the 3/4 length sleeves and the crocheted ties!

I am going to check my gauge tonight and hopefully cast on tomorrow (even though I'm in the middle of a million other projects already!)

I'm going to use KnitPick's Shine Worsted in "Blush" because I happen to have enough in my stash.

Anyone want to join me?

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / i want to make this.... on: November 04, 2006 05:51:56 AM
but it's one size fits all.  I'm a little on the heavy side, any idea how i could modify it to fit better?

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / knitting 2 socks at a time? on: November 02, 2006 05:32:50 AM
I have recently discovered that I love knitting socks!!  However, I have a very short attention span and after I finish the first sock I never really feel like knitting the exact same thing all over again.  I thought that knitting both socks at the same time would be a great idea.

After reading this tut http://files.blog-city.com/files/aa/3830/b/2on1n.html I have figured out how to cast on, but now I'm stuck! I have no clue how to actually begin knitting.  I have only used dpns in the past never circulars in my sock knitting adventures.

Could some one explain what to do next, or point me in the direction of a website that might help?

Thanks in advance!
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / First attempt at two color knitting... on: October 31, 2006 05:49:52 AM
This is going to be my first attempt of making a picture with a contrasting color in a knitting project.  I was wondering if anyone had helpful tips or tricks they could share with me.

The below link is the project I would like to try, do you think it is easy or too difficult for a first project?

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / looking for a basic top down raglan sweater pattern on: September 26, 2006 08:15:57 AM
I'm just about done with my Rusted Root from Zephyr Style, and have discovered that I really enjoy top down raglan sweaters.  I have some ideas floating around in my head that I would like to try out, but I'm not quite ready to write a whole pattern myself.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any really basic top down raglan sweater pattern.  Something really simple that I can try to modify to the image i have in my head!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help with chart knitting!!! on: August 21, 2006 06:51:12 PM
So, this is my first time knitting from a chart.  I'm attempting to make this http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=93601.0

I think I'm doing something wrong with the diamond lace chart though... Maybe someone can tell me where I'm going wrong?

In the picture it looks all nice and evenly spaced like this:

{}      {}       {}      {}
     {}      {}       {}
{}      {}       {}      {}

Mine looks more like this:
{}     {} {}      {}
    {}         {}
{}     {} {}      {}

Here is the link to the chart: http://www.sciencefictiontwin.com/Diamondbackgroundlace.pdf

This is the first time I've used a chart, am I doing someting wrong?
