1  Yet Another (but this time tiny) Tinkerbelle -- Updated with action shot! in Halloween Costumes by Jeannette on: October 31, 2006 05:56:22 AM
So I made this costume for my 4yo Daughter for our (Disney) Cruise this fall, but she is going to wear it tonight for Halloween as well.

Isn't she cute?

And from the side. Who knew that Tink eats fish sticks?

The dress itself is made of green satin, and the overlay on the skirt is a lime green tulle (who would buy that except for a tinkerbelle costume?)

The wings are store bought, but had to be adjusted to not flop around so much.

I'll try to get a full body shot tonight. The skirt is really cute in that it is all raggedy at the "hem".

Oh, and I forgot about the shoes... They are re-conned ballet flats that I painted green and finished with glitter poly. Then hot glued the pom-poms.

Here she is on our front walk all ready to go with her wand and pixie dust (glitter)

Enjoy!

2  Moda Faded Memories Charm Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by Jeannette on: October 12, 2006 06:08:30 AM
So a while ago superstitch posted this thread:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=105317.0

She used the same moda charm packs that I had begun a quilt with. A quilt that I HATED (err, mine that is, her's is beautiful). But she egged me on, and I've finished it now. And it's better than I thought it might be. Smiley

So without further ado:

4  Wind in her hair - collage in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Jeannette on: October 05, 2006 10:22:42 AM
So I threw this together for my bestest friends birthday card (her gift was a small watercolor quilt that I made ages ago)

What do you think? Unfortunately, the picture was taken at a slight angle and so looks a little out of whack.

5  Linked fingers - inspired by bubba*tink photo in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Jeannette on: September 28, 2006 05:51:13 AM
Our fellow craftster bubba*tink took this photo, which I absolutely LOVE:

And I asked her if I could paint it. She graciously agreed and here is my final version.

I had originally thought to make it my own. And it doesn't show up well in the photo, but the body is actually in brown and white instead of black and white. But I had a hard time improving on something that was already so beautiful. It was an EXCELLENT study of the human hand though, and I thouroughly enjoyed painting it! Thanks bubba*tink!!!

Hope you all likey.

6  June and her Om (paintings) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Jeannette on: August 31, 2006 01:43:01 PM
Ok, guys and gals... here's the latest paintings from my front hall... (we hate the tile in there, so the paint can splatter and we aren't heart broken... Someday we'll put some sort of wipable flooring in my craftroom)

June

She was inspired by this photograph I took (several years ago) of a headless statue at a coffee shop here in austin. Someone had made her pasties out of those little gold stars that teachers stick on your spelling tests, etc.

Om

This one came to me during a yoga class. I had this image of red, hot, "bad" air coming out as we chanted "Om". The first attempt is a tiny bit visible if you look really hard, but it really is more texture showing through. I had started it very curly cue... it looked like a bad 70's game show background! GAG!

As always, comments are welcome.

7  Paintings in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Jeannette on: August 18, 2006 11:24:39 AM
Bear with me... I'm new at painting. Well sort of. I've done paintings (acrylic) before in High School, but we won't talk about how long ago that was.

The eyeballs on fire. I think this may be a joke in our house forevermore.

And a much more abstract one. This is my first painting with "REAL" acrylics (not the kind in the little 2 oz bottles for $.49

and close of the center:

I've certainly been enjoying this medium. It's very calming and less tedious than cutting out a zillion pictures to collage. But perhaps a LOT more expensive.

Feedback welcomed.

Ok, really now, I'm going back to work.... Wink

8  Batik Baby Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by Jeannette on: August 08, 2006 12:14:39 PM
So here's the latest quilt out of my sewing room... I didn't know the baby was a boy until after I had the top pieced (they *weren't* going to find out... )

I hope they like it... it's not too cutesy.

Unfortunately the quilting doesn't show up well... I did concentric circles all over the place. I am really please with it. It will be hard to part with. Smiley

9  Portrait in a Beer Cap in CHALLENGE 14 ENTRIES by Jeannette on: August 03, 2006 06:38:50 AM
So my sweet Missy-puppy (well 11 year old dog) passed away about 1 month ago. I had been promising to make some sort of art to remember her. One day I saw a beer cap, and remembering how we used to pour her a few drops of beer on the concrete outside to lick up, I thought I would paint her portrait inside.

So, without furthur ado:
