1  Crafted Nursery (PIC HEAVY) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by ellie.henry on: November 24, 2007 07:33:14 PM
I have spent 9 long months working (slowly) on my baby's nursery. We didn't know the sex until a few days ago when we had to have a special US. Well it is a GIRL!! Willow Susan should be gracing us with her presence any time now, so I had to get the room done done done. Nesting instinct here I go! So here are the fruits of my labors Smiley

I started with white walls and an empty room! Don't mind the clutter in some of the pics hehe, I am still cleaning up!

I painted the walls a buttery yellow and put up border in Cathy Heck's "Little Pond" pattern, which the nursery is based on. I covered this hideous lamp, sorry I don't have a before pic, and painted it white. It looked like it belonged in a 1970's basement before!

The dresser came next. It had been mine all my life, and has suffered many paint jobs, but here is before:

and here is after. I hand painted the baby giraffe from the pattern on the top drawer.

I made covers for the changing pad, and some sides for the table as well to keep things from being shoved off the shelves.

this is a close up of the fabric in "Little Pond."

The rocking chair was a bit beat up and got a new cover too.

and here is a close up of the upholstery fabric for the chair and ottoman.

I made a ruffle for above the window, and a bed skirt as well. I only have a photo of the ruffle.

I made a wall hanging out of a piece you are supposed to use to make a blanket. I already purchased the blanket with my bumpers and head board so I thought it would make a nice decoration.

I lastly, finding out it was a girl, made Willow a wall collage of her name. I used some simple wood cut outs and hand painted it. They are stuck up with those nifty 3M peel and stick things!

I hope you like it as much as I do, and I welcome all comments Smiley Ellie

have a long string attached but they go through their winter coats (behind their backs and down the sleeves and stay in the coat that way,

that is exactly what they are for, they really come in no contact with baby other than through the sleves, because frankly...a newborn can't keep it's mittens on it self. The mitties thread through the sleves of the coat and go across the inside back, a loop will have to be put in the jacket they are going in to keep the tie secure inside. something as illustrated here:

no worries. i have no plans of baby strangling anytime soon. and I'm not the first or last person to have string mittens! Smiley

4  My baby will not get frostbite. in Knitting: Completed Projects by ellie.henry on: October 05, 2007 06:40:28 PM
So after a long 7 month haul of pregnancy and a blanket disaster, I have finaly finished my first knitting project for my baby to be. Simple, yes. Did it only take an hour, yes. But dammit I am proud of them. Especially since I have to start all over on the blanket!

Hat is in progress and booties will come next. They are all minty green 100% Wool. And it was on sale!! Knit on #5 DPNS and a simple crochet chain to keep them together. Enjoy my "work".

8  Re: Little Visitor Swap Round 6 GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by ellie.henry on: March 19, 2007 05:51:09 PM
Well George is here, and I know I have gotten myself in deep this time!
George is on parol, and has a few court orders under his belt... he likes to build bombs and try to take over the world... ohhh well.

When he got here we surfed craftster and look at his mom's profile. He missed her.... a little.

Now I know he is quite the bunny but... I left him alone for like 2 seconds and he was already trying to cut up my knitting to make a string bomb...whatever that is!

When I was taking a shower he got into some business too. I am a hair stylist, I mean...there are things in my house.

Well... as you can see George gave himself a new do. He is a hardcore punk bunny now...with his Blue and Orange highlights!

10  Re: Yarn Swap for Rapunzel Scarf Gallery in The Swap Gallery by ellie.henry on: March 17, 2007 08:32:54 PM
Ok, so I got impatient! I am still waiting to recieve one yarn package, but I plan on making SEVERAL of these scarves! With my own addition, and the extras I got, I had enough to make one already! I took the cut off ends and tied little bows all along the scarf. I am in love!
