11  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / It's coming!/Its Here!! Picture heavy! on: July 25, 2007 06:49:41 PM
yay!  I ordered my first wheel, the Kromski Symphony, today.

I chose the wheel I did because looks were a big part of it for me, as was a double tredal.

And, I am a glutton for punishment.  Wink

Can't wait for it to get here!

EDIT:  Just finished putting it all together, I'll have pictures either tonight or tomorrow.

Let me just say, wheel spinning is so much harder than spindle spinning, but Ill keep at it!
12  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Completed Projects / Just a few new things.... on: July 07, 2007 05:47:51 PM
I dyed up some stuff the other day.

Hodge Podge

Ninja Turtle

Seaside

Marshmellow Peeps

and then some lambs pride bulky in an almost solid blue.

All the rovings are mill ends and there wasn't too much...I think about 3 ounces of seaside was the biggest batch.  But still, it was a huge amount of fun.
13  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Anyone done the Carousel Square? on: November 22, 2006 06:37:33 PM
I think this is where this goes....

I am trying to increase my meager crochet skills, so I started this square:  http://hometown.aol.com/lffunt/carousal.html

My problem is on round seven.  It says:

Ch 1, from the back, sl st into the top of the first fpdc of round 4,
ch 6 to count as the first trc and the first ch 2, skip next 2 dc on round 6, sc from the front in the next dc, (the center dc of the shell), ch 2, *skip next 2 dc on round 4, trc from the back in the top of the next fpdc of round 4, ch 2, skip next 2 dc on round 6, sc in the next dc, (the center dc of the next shell), ch 2* Repeat from * to * 14 times; ch 1, join with a sc to the 4th ch
of the beginning ch 6 to form last ch 2 sp. (32 ch 2 sps)

Now, when it says back, that means the side you see while working, right?  So you would slip stitch down the back of the square, and then suddenly start working from the front?  Or is the front the side your looking at and the back the finished side?  I am so confused.  Huh
14  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Fingerless Gloves on: November 19, 2006 12:23:39 PM
As we all know...its going to be christmas soon!  And if your anything like me, you have very little money to spend on gifts.

I got this yummy yarn at Jo-Ann's yesterday, its called Sensations Dolcetto, and its basically a fluffy single ply wool/cotton/nylon blend and its just so buttery and delicious, so I made up a pair of fingerless gloves.  The second one is better as I learned to fit them to my hands.  I should even have enough to make a second pair, and then thats two less presents to worry about!

15  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Striped Baby Blanket on: June 24, 2006 09:09:16 PM
Well, I have decided that its time to stop being a lurker and start off with my first ever completed blanket.  I used 17 skeins of velvet spun yarn...lion brand, I think.  It was such a pain, seeing as the ends shed until I melted them shut. >_<  But the end result is nice.  I gave it to my cousin for her new baby, and I just found out that the nursery colors are yellow and green!

and heres a close up shot, the entire thing is in double crochet.  Ill never do that again either, lol.
