201  California / California: North / Re: Northern California Crafters? You must be out there. on: April 22, 2005 01:30:54 PM
Another Chico-an here! I was living in san diego for a while, and yeah, the whole chico/chino thing... I'd say I was from chico, like 8 hours away, and they'd be all confused, thinking it was only an hour or two north.
Anyway... It'd be nice to organize something if there's enough of us, but I don't know what...just a thought. Wink

203  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Might not count as a craft - but please don't all attack me!! on: April 21, 2005 01:07:25 AM
Okay, wow. Where to start? I'm afraid of rambling, but, sigh... I know it'll happen. At least you know you won't get short letters, eh?
Well, I'm Wren, and I'm 23. I just moved back to my smallish town in Northern California after a 4 year stint in San Diego. I pout all the time about not being down there, but I do think I've found the love of my life up here (hence, I stayed when I was supposed to just be taking a short break), soo....LOL.  Anyway, enough about that.
Hmm. I love books, music, and art more than anything.  Ha. Yeah, I call myself a book slut, I'll read anything you open in front of me (well mostly. I do have my standards).  I always thought that I'd never be able to have an adult job or life due to this, but I too am working toward becoming a "gatekeeper of knowledge", aka librarian.
As far as crafting goes, I dabble in all, as most of us do. My favs/specialties are sewing, the whole "fine arts" thing, anything paper arts related,  jewelry, and embroidery. I'm terribly curious to try book making, and I'm waiting to have more cash to re-attempt screen printing, ooooh la la.
I love love love the outdoors, but more in the "take in nature" way, rather than a sporty way. (i'm super lazy. It's gross. lol.) On the other hand, I'm also a consumer whore. Love girly stuff, like clothes, makeup(that I never wear! Embarrassed), shoes, you get the idea. I love putting my own spin on cheapy plain stuff from Tar-jay (target, if you must). I collect purses.
I'm very liberal when it comes to politics, and don't have a religion, but I'm very easy. We can talk about that stuff, or not... More or not. But either way, I'm not judgemental. Everyone's entitled to lead their life as they see fit (barring serial killers, rapists, and other nasty sorts).
You can probably talk to me about anything...even wedding angst! As much as I don't want to get married, I have this sick addiction to all things wedding...I think that goes with the over girly side of me. Frou frou should be my, uh, second middle name. Yeah.  But don't get me wrong, please!!! I'm not a ridiculous fluffy pink creampuff girl. If I was going to er label myself, I guess I'd go w/ indie, so yeah, not a princess.
Mmm, other random such & such... I love art deco to a crazy degree (so does my b.f! how great is that?!)
Like I mentioned, music is super important. I have a pony. Okay, she's a horse but I like pony. Green's my fav. colour. I love folding laundry, bike rides, thrift shopping, going to great shows (which I can't do anymore, b/c i'm in b.f.e.), cutting shit out of magazines, Takashi Murakami, wildflowers, exacto knifes, resin, gesso, and a good glass of scotch.
Okay, I'm rambling, like I predicted. I blame the scotch that I just finished. Hopefully someone doesn't think I'm nuts. I'm so stoked for this! I haven't had a pen-pal in years, but I have always loved the art of writing a letter. I can take on two people, but only one international please! (I don't want you to not get a letter b/c I screwed up my monthly budget or something stupid like that, but I know I can handle one.)
Patiently waiting...
Wren
seriously sorry for the ramble.

208  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Eye Makeup Tips Please!!!!! on: April 12, 2005 10:45:02 PM
I have blue eyes, and I just must say: Orange is fantastic, not boring at all, as long as you get the right kind of orange. I have this orange that's very ORANGE and matte, and when I wear it, it does make my eyes just "pop"! Anyway, just my two cents, b/c I think you should give it a try!  (But everyone else's ideas are rad, too!)  Cheesy
