i'm just wondering what my attempts at felting yarn (in a washing machine) that is 75% wool, 20% acrylic and 5% polyester will turn out.

it's a really soft wool but it's a blend and it has gold threads running through it. i may do a test with a small knit swatch but i'm just wondering for future machine washing felting endeavors if i should always get 100% wool.

this past weekend i went out and bought a metre of vinyl, some cute leafy patterned fabric, and learned the joys of upholstery thread when i decided to sit down and tackle a vinyl bag. i was originally going to make a straightforward lined tote, but i looked through a few tutorials and decided to get a bit more adventurous.

i found mgenevieve's tutorial and went from there, but altered it a bit in regards to adding a lining and how i did the straps. the straps on mine need some work, as it was near impossible to get through 6 folds of vinyl on my poor singer. first time pleating (easier than i imagined!) and first time working with vinyl. sooooo excited.

a friend of mine asked me to make one for her birthday, so hopefully by then i'll have all the snags worked out with how to manuever the vinyl to get the straps on in a neater looking way. thanks for looking! Smiley
