1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / embossed leaves socks (driving me nuts!) on: July 29, 2007 03:22:57 PM
Hey everyone,

I am trying to knit the Embossed Leaves Socks from Interweaves Twenty Five Favorite Socks.  All of the posts I have seen about them say they are easy, but I seem to be having so many problems with them Undecided I have made it to the beginning of the heel gusset, and can't figure out how to proceed.  I have finished turning the heel and the directions say to cut yarn and "with RS facing, rejoin yarn to beg of right side of heel flap and pick up sts along selvedge edges of heel flap and rejoin for working in the round."

Now, I can't even figure out what the right side is so I can get it facing me.  It seems like no matter where I attach the yarn to start picking up stitches, I will end up rejoining for knitting in the round so that the sock goes inside out!  I don't know if I'm explaining this properly, but any help would be sorely appreciated!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / So confused by Rowan Denim! Help? on: July 11, 2007 09:50:03 AM
Hi everyone...
I have been trying to knit "Louise" from the Rowan Denim People book using the Rowan Denim yarn it calls for.  I finished the front pieces and the back with no problem.  Now I am on to the sleeves--even though I am knitting at gauge, they look ludicrously long, longer than the 10% shrinkage seems like it could fix.  Of course there are no pre-washing measurements for the pattern, so I can't tell what I'm supposed to be aiming for really.  Rowan's website doesn't really have anything to help, and as far as I can tell from various googlings, there aren't any bloggers who have tried to knit this pattern and talked about it.  Does anyone have any ideas?  I don't want to waste all of this yarn on something that looks ridiculous, especially since the yarn was a gift from my bf!  Thanks!!!

Hi everyone, I have been looking around on Craftster for a long time, and finally became a member.  I didn't get it together in time to enter the sock monkey challenge, but I wanted to post the monkeys that I made so everyone could see them.  I made monkey versions of Emma Goldman and Alexander Berkman.  My boyfriend made their glasses for me:

Thanks for looking!!
