1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / suggestions about a toddler playmat on: April 08, 2008 10:56:41 AM
Hi! I have almost finished a quilt top, it's a very easy one and it's 32 inches x 40 inches. I'd like to make a mat for my toddler to play outdoors. So maybe instead of using a regular piece of cotton for the back, and batting, I will sew it directly to a piece of sturdy fabric (denim, fleece...) and avoid the batting. I do everything by hand because I don't have a machine, that's why I think this way will be easier for me. Any suggestions?

You did a good job combining colors!
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / A good book for beginners? on: July 31, 2007 11:30:06 AM
Hi there! I want to start sewing and I want to buy a book. I took a look at Sew U and also at Amy Karol's new book. I don't really know which one I prefer. Any ideas?
Thanks!
4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Machine sewing on: June 22, 2007 11:52:31 AM
I know these are stupid questions but I need some feedback. I'd like to buy a sewing machine. What do you recommend in terms of models, prizes... for a beginner? Also, my budget is limited so maybe Craigslist is a good option? Can I learn on my own, do you recommend some resources? How long can it take? Thanks!
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Baby hat ideas...help! on: December 13, 2006 01:09:32 PM
Hi! I posted two baby hat patterns in my blog recently and will probably post two more soon! I've used Bunny hop yarn from Crystal palace yarns. It's a little bit chunky, colorful and very soft. If you prefer to use another kind of yarn I think it will be very easy to substitute, I include a link to see the details of that yarn.

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Author property of patterns? on: October 25, 2006 11:42:06 AM
Hello! This is my question: If I "created" a pattern and are going to publish it in my blog or anywhere else, how can I protect it from being "stolen" by others?
Thanks!
7  UNITED STATES / Maine / Yarn sale in Portland on: October 25, 2006 11:09:52 AM
Hi!
I recently discovered the warehouse of Seaport yarn (http://www.seaportyarn.com) at the end of Fore street. They have nice stuff! Tomorrow they start a 20% sale of some of the brands they have that will last 4 days. It may be worthy to go and take a look.

My visit to Michaels was not so good. They only have ugly colors left (strange blues and greens) and they have it priced at 4.99 not showing the previous price.
9  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Clapotis from Knitty on: October 18, 2006 10:13:35 AM
I still don't have a Clapotis and I may knit one during my next long flight home, looks perfect for that.

Thanks a lot everybody! I'm definitely heading to Michaels after work and I'll keep an eye on the websites you suggested.
