11  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Call of Cthulhu on: March 22, 2009 06:51:58 PM
A long long time ago, a painting was created for a wish swap. I recently used the photo i took of it before i sent it on it's way, for the layout of my website. I told my friend, who turned out to be a big Cthulhu fan. Now i've been looking here for inspiration, but my paiting, looks very unlike the other representations i've seen on craftster. Does anyone know if i got it horribly wrong to start with?

Here's what it looks like

Help me?

18  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Offer: free banners/art ||Help build graphic design portfolio on: December 29, 2007 07:45:04 PM
UPDATE:
So Far two people have approached me about banners so i thought i'd show you how the work and options i gave them look like.

The following are not the end products but just design concepts. I wanted to show that i did follow through as i know in the past some have not.

Enjoy

And here's a random consideration for inclusion in my portfolio

preg_replace('/(.{49})/', '$1 ', '__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________')
Hey all,

I've just graduated from uni with a medical science degree. Thought i would diversify a little by doing a graphic design course but since i have no background in that field, it seems i need to submit a portfolio. It's so overwhelming...i don't know where to start. Does anyone have links or project ideas?

Also if anyone is looking for free banners or art to use in their stores, I would be more than happy for the opportunity and the experience as long as i get credit where credit is due. Furthermore I'm a fairly active member and will communicate with you promptly and until you are happy.

My style is diverse and I'm happy to cater to you as this would provide diversity in my portfolio as well

SELECTION CRITERIA
Your application will be assessed using the following selection criteria:
- An imaginative use of media (at least two different media should be
demonstrated).
- Individuality of expression.
- A creative approach to problem solving.
- The ability to develop design solutions.
- A well developed sense of colour appreciation.
- Clean and accurate skills in the presentation of work.
- Demonstrated awareness of this profession and extent of previous
studies/experience in related areas.
- Ability to comply with the requirements of the selection process.
- A successful result in selection test or submission of portfolio.

In the case of the portfolio, the number of samples submitted should be a
minimum of four and a maximum of ten pieces, of which at least two pieces should
be undertaken in a black and white medium. The samples submitted must
demonstrate knowledge, skills and ability relevant to design. Work submitted in
a portfolio must have been completed within the previous two years, and should
demonstrate a variety of skills and creative ability.

A panel of at least three teachers assess your test and portfolio. All work
submitted for the aptitude test and portfolio must be your own and must be
original - that is, the work should not contain the work of others. If the work
is too large to submit or is an installation piece a copy may be submitted as
long as the work is authenticated.
