11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I *heart* pic bag on: June 09, 2005 08:38:55 PM
I saw a bag like this some where I am not sure where...

But I decided to make my own

I made the Appliqus with felt and reproduction calico prints.

The pocket is clear to insert a picture of your love!

It was my first time using wooden handles but it turned out cute, if you over look the fact that it is really deep. I know my best friend will love it though.

12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Where to find craft(y) humor?? on: June 06, 2005 09:49:55 PM
Haven't you ever looked at a pattern and thought "What the??" Or Found something that was to bizarre that you almost didn't believe it was real? That's why I think crafting is great, it is a little wacky and spooky, but totally unique.

I am trying to dig up allot of websites with retro or modern craft related humor, so I can devote a section of my webpage to them.

If you know of any please reply or PM me or Email me! Thanks. ~Jaime

Here are some examples or some that i have collected:

http://www.threadbared.com/ - This website is great for the retro sewing, crochet, and knitting patterns it displays.
I love the craft section (Esp. Barbie and Ken Living in a crocheted Paradise!)

http://www.gorskys.com.au/articles/diy-ideas.html - Everything these days is Do It Yourself. Home repairs. Car maintenance. Here are some clever suggestions of how to DIY!

http://postsecret.blogspot.com/ - Sharing secrets with the whole internet??? Its a must and some of them are beautiful.

http://www.cactuspony.com/hodgepodge.html - Hodgepodge is my crafty humor. Who doesnt find the cover of those old knitting books hilarious? The Archive is great too, everything is categorized - http://www.cactuspony.com/hodgepodge/archive/archive.html

http://www.engrish.com/ - Not exactly crafty, but still funny attempts at the English language.

16  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My Last Second Valentine Clutch on: February 19, 2004 12:36:09 AM
So here is what I was making instead of drying my hair, so I left too late to go for the Girls only Dinner (But I didn't miss the girls partying at the bar, dancing until our feet were crying!!)

It is a clutch with a zipper and Ball chain handle based on the square bottomed purse tutorial everyone is so hip on!

(I had to undo it twice to fix the zipper! I am always putting them in upside down!!)

I cut out little hearts from random samples of fabric that some random uniform company sent me. then I zig-zag stitched them to the denim and houndstooth base.

Then I assembled the rest.

17  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Help!? A Handkercheif hem skirt on: February 18, 2004 09:38:15 PM
Okay I love these and I want to make a long Knee length or lower skirt.

So Does anyone have any experience making a skirt like this:
http://www.girlshop.com/shop/girls/catalog/product.asp?pf%5Fid=CIR%2DLWSK1502&bt=cir

I love the layered look with a Handkerchief Hem. I think I would use two layers of light cotton or one mid weight cotton or poly blend to make it. (To mee they look like they are cut on the bias.)

Any WaY Any Help or Ideas Would Be So Welcomed!!

18  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / A small Decopaged Frame on: January 25, 2004 08:17:19 PM
I made this small frame

What you need:

A small frame (mine is wood and has magnets on the back)
A magazine picture(s)
Clear Nail polish
A marker
Tacky Glue
Scissors or cutting knife
Acrylic paint
Foam brush
Old Credit card (to even out glue)

Optional: glitter nail polishes

How to do it:

1. Prepare surface of frame for paint (Cleaning and/or sanding it)
2. Paint frame with acrylic paint, let it dry
3. Trace frame on to wrong side of image
4. Cut out image
5. Apply coat of glue even out layer of glue with an old credit card
6. Adhere image to frame use card to remove bubbles and wrinkles (if your like me, you can leave those on!!) and let dry until glue turns clear
7. Coat with clear nail polish (Open the windows!!!!) let it dry
8. Add glitter nail polish to highlight image
9. Coat with clear nail polish again!
10 and your all done.!!!

Here is a frame with just acrylic paint and I glued some plastic trinkets on it!

Have fun, Jaime

19  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Where do you buy you metal Findings on: January 24, 2004 07:50:39 PM
Hey Everybody!

I hope your Year is starting out well.

I have two questions!

1. I wonder where you can buy the metal(Brass) corners and other parts people have been using on their Cigar Purses?

2. Where can I find pendant backings much like Pendants used by susan starshttp://www.susanstars.com/jewelry.html. I found one once at a scrapbooking store for like $2.00 (Way too much $$$$)

So Long Questions short I guess I am Asking Where do you buy your Metal/brass/silver Findings???

Thanks so much!! Jaime
