Pooooosibly the wrong forum (judging by the really intricate designs I've seen   I admire your patience ) but couldn't find one just for baby stuff.

Anyhoo, here is a blanket I made for my friend who has just had her second baby - she's ecstatic he was a boy as she has completed the set and can stop now! (her words )

I got the fabric from IKEA after searching all (three) material shops in my home town, I love the primary colours.





I also made a headrest type kidney bean filled with polystyrene balls for when baby is old enough to go on his front.





It's quite basic but I do like to make presents where I can, it feels a bit more special. I'm quite impressed I managed to keep the lines straight! (not usually my forte).

Long time lurker, first time poster (so please be nice!  )! So to celebrate the purchase of my new sewing machine, I decided to sew some things up! The most successful was this maxi dress

which I bought from Asda (part of the Walmart family!) for the bargainous price of £1 (50 cent-ish?) as I loved the print, however it was (is) 3 sizes too big and as much as I rate my rack, my puppies would be swamped in those bad boys. So I sliced n diced and came up with this!

It's still a bit big so I clinched it in with this belt - the looseness does make the bottom a bit swishy but I do like spinning around!

This is wot I done:-
I measured down from the top of my boobs to where I wanted the dress to end then I made a loop of elastic which fit snuggly around my chest, then pinned the fabric to the loop, thusly:-

The elastic was a bit of a pain as its smaller than the dress so I had to stretch it out over my legs to I could get the pins in - multiple pinpricks!


I then sewed very v e r y slowly, using the zigzag stitch (I'm a professional, can you tell??!) stretching out the elastic under the fabric, so it looked a little like this:-

and tada! That was that. Just have to think of any event to wear it to now. Sigh.
