Wibit, I continue to be astounded by your patterns.  Thank you so much for the tutorial on brushed crochet.  I've been wondering how you did that for some time now!  I can't wait to play with it!

Thanks for all of the compliments!

I'll try to answer some of your questions.  I used stem stitch and satin stitch on a high count linen (I think it was a 36 count or 38 count).  It was the first time I did either of these stitches, so I just tried to keep them as small and neat as possible.  I used 3 strands of DMC floss for the stitching.  Thread Heaven to keep the threads nice and smooth.

The hardest part was trying to get different colours for all of the appendages!

I found an Aunt Martha's pattern for "animated kitchenware" at a local craft store.  After seeing the little tea towels that others had made and posted, I knew I just had to make some for myself.  Instead of making individual towels, though, I opted to make all of the patterns together in one large piece.  Kind of weird, I know.

Here it is:

Thanks for looking.

19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lighter Circular Cast On (Toe-Up Socks) on: January 14, 2008 09:59:49 AM
Has anyone made the diamond waffle socks from Knitty Fall 2007? I am really stuck with the lighter circular cast on that is used. These will be my first toe-up socks. When I try the lighter circular cast on, I can't get the initial loop used to close up completely. It just ends up looking like a mess. Please help!

I love the little mouth!  All of your crochet has such personality.  Fantastic.
