1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / Re: My first needle felted bear on: April 11, 2008 02:58:21 AM
He's so perfect. Not just a felted toy, it's a whole scene. An illustration from a children's book that bursts out at you ... in felt. lol

*goes over to look at felting tuts* Is this really as difficult as it seems from your marvelous piece of work?
2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: i heart manatees swap! (sign ups 3/23 - 4/6 - send out 5/2) on: April 04, 2008 02:17:50 PM
I've been getting back to looking through craftster and damn it, this website is always such a temptation. Now I want to join this swap. :/ I actually have a stuffed toy of a manatee on the monitor right now, I made it his permanent residence just cause he looked so cute there. He always brightens my mood when I see him over there.  Cheesy

PS: When did you all get obsessed with manatees? Seriously, I'm starting to realize maybe I'm not the only one who saw a photograph in a fifth grade Biology textbook and went.... "awww, so chubby and cute."

omg, this is totally awesome. I love the way you painted the face. Just the whole combination of the different elements is very intriguing, so you just want to look at it some more and you keep switching your views. "It's a child, no it's a bear, no it's something completely different, and why is it wearing a ball gown. wait, what?" you know? sorry, maybe that's just me, I like getting confused. Tongue But I think that quality is something great to have in a piece of work. Great job.
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: quick landscape from life on: March 26, 2008 11:52:09 AM
CosmicCarrot mentioned the similarity between this painting and a piece by Klimt. And I can't help but get all curious and go looking over the web for that certain painting. This is just informational. CosmicCarrot, which one did you have in mind? Beech Grove I or Farmhouse with Birch Trees?

Personally, I love it. And you're right, step back a bit and you see so much and the colours and brush strokes make so much sense. That feeling is so wonderful.  Cheesy
What media did you use?

Wonderful painting, again.  Grin

"Old Barn" is fantastic!!! I love the daisies as well. I think these two are the ones where you showed the most proficiency. "Moonlit Experience" is wonderful, the idea and the execution... are her wings made of?.... ok what are they made of?  Tongue

I also adore the guitar piece. I applaud you, cause I could have never thought of such a collage. Only criticism is that I have a feeling you rushed the background a bit. sorry.  Embarrassed

Great job and keep painting. Lovely work.

8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: A bunch of my old work (mostly sketches, MONSTROUSLY picture heavy) on: July 31, 2007 02:53:24 AM
omg, meepum is right, that's PJ Harvey and it's a great portrait of her. The drawing of the girl without the face in the pink dress has a very nice atmosphere to it, so calm. And I also like the ELLE Girl drawings.

This is awesome. It's quite impressive. I love the greenish colours in it.
10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / A few life drawings on: July 31, 2007 02:37:38 AM
A few different life drawings. The drawings of the girl without a face are all 30 minute sketches. The seated woman is a +/- 3 hour drawing. And the last 3 drawings of the girl with the stockings and the old man are all 15 minute sketches. I had a lot more 15 minute sketches of the old man but don't have photographs of them. These were my first figure drawing classes and although I could barely keep up, it was so amazing to draw from life.
