41  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: fuzzy baby penguin! on: March 19, 2007 10:38:02 AM
It IS very realistic.  I love the way the beak looks.  You have done an awesome job.  He is just tooooooo cute!

I received from the lovely candikaneiscrafty today.

P is for Postage:

I lurv it!  I actually hoard the pretty stamps off of envelopes I get at work so this is an ironically appropriate card for me Smiley  I love that the stripes in the background mimic the postage cancellation stripes.  Nice work.

This is flippin' sweet.  You did a great job with all the additions, it looks like he came that way.  And, of course, who doesn't love a little elf stompin' now and again.  Excellent work.
44  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 17 ENTRIES / Time Bomb on: February 27, 2007 03:16:26 PM
I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a while and this challenge finally got me off my duff.

I started with an Ikea clock I had hanging in the bathroom.  I never liked the yellow but my mom bought it for me and it worked, so meh.  I took it apart, painted it black, made a new face in Photoshop using fonts from dafont.com, added some polymer clay and viola!  A Time Bomb!

I had to add a counterbalance to the back of the clock because the bomb top made it crooked.  If I had thought about that before I glued the face on I would have adjusted the face instead.  The fuse is i-cord with wire stuck up the center and a little pink pompom I had lying around tied to it.  I think in the future I'm going to have to repaint it with some of that spray paint made for plastic but for now I'm happy with it.  I thought about painting the hands to make them stand out but I decided that in the theme of the clock, the only really important hand was the second hand - ticking away the time until the bomb goes off!  Hehe.

Here's what it looked like when it started it's life:
45  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Buttons for Baby Sweater on: February 24, 2007 07:14:02 AM
While I think it would be super cute to do 1, 2, 3, 4, frog! in terms of word play and all that, I believe yarnhag is right about the size and style of the buttons.  It's hard to tell how big the buttons really are but they look like they may be a little small from a practical standpoint.  I might use large round plain looking buttons in white , matching OR complementary colors like orange for the pink sweater and green for the blue sweater.  Hope that helps!

I got my card from OneChordWonder today and I also realized I never posted a picture of frozenknitter's card to me so here they are.

From frozenknitter, it's tooo cute:

From OneChordWonder, I love Miyazaki so this card made me smile a bunch.  It also looks much cooler in person, the scanner didn't like the texture:

Thanks Teeisme, frozenknitter and OneChordWonder!
47  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: VALENTINE THEMED ATC SWAP GALLERY on: February 09, 2007 07:21:05 PM
Woohoo, I have all three of my cards now!  I love them all guys, thanks so much.   Here are my cards from candikaneiscrafty, carolb and GothChics in that order:

(scanner didn't take too well to the shiny bits and I sized them inconsistently but these are all very lovely cards in person and they are hanging on my feature board ^_^ )

Colorfuldayz: Valentine's Day is also my birthday! Happy Birthday to us!
48  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Alphabet ATC M, N, O on: February 02, 2007 03:01:08 PM
w00t!  I got my M card from sewknitter a few days ago (sorry I didn't put up pictures sooner!).

M is for M&M's!

They are even artists themselves!  (Sorry about the blur, the lighting wasn't that great when I took the pictures.)

She also sent me a few extras, including some of those delicious candy treats which got gobbled up quick!

Here's how she made the little dudes (hope she doesn't mind me letting everyone know):
Quote
I made the M & M's from bread dough, baked. Then layer after layer of paint, and then mod-podge. Then I added the eyes, and realized they needed to be painted! so again a few layers of paint and mod-podge.

So clever and so cute!  Thank you sewknitter!

50  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Re: Fairly Easy Fair Isle on: January 26, 2007 08:14:44 PM
Fair isle does take a lot of practice but it looks to me like you did a great job.  I love the colors you picked.  What yarn did you end up using?
