11  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: the metallic dusting powders on: August 23, 2006 11:07:04 AM
You have a few options:

Use a more 'metallic' clay such as Premo gold or Kato Polyclay Gold
Dust with gold mica powders (pearl-ex or perfect pearls)
Paint with acrylic paint
Apply gold leaf, then seal with an approved sealant.

HTH!

Not my style, but cute. I'd make the laugh lines a little thinner, though. A little baby hasn't lived that much life, lol.  Cheesy

Cute, but here's my pet peeve. It is spelled SCULPEY, not sculpty. No T.

Unless there's been a new brand invented?
14  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Anyone uses a Rock tumbler for polymer clays? on: August 15, 2006 11:10:35 AM
I have friends who have these rock tumblers: http://www.lortone.com/tumblers.html and use it for sanding  polymer clay.
I REALLY HATE to sand, and I wonder where I could find some rock tumbler cheaper, and if you can give me good references about your own tumbler.

Thanks!!

Lortone tumblers are worth the money. Kiddie tumblers can leak or just give out - they aren't meant to stand up to hours of tumbling, non-stop over a week. The best price I've found is at Connie Fox's site: http://www.jatayu.com.

You'll need to make an insert for the tumbler, per Desiree McCrorey's instructions. Diane has already provided the link to you.

15  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ways to use glitter with Sculpey? on: August 11, 2006 09:29:36 AM
Test it first..

Mix some of the glitter in the tls, apply it to a cured sheet of clay (can be small) and rebake to see how the glitter is affected.

there's a thread about this very subject on this forum - just do a search. I wouldn't use any finish on the plugs, just sand smooth and buff with a muslin wheel.
