1  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Getting Started With Polymer Clay (Check here before asking questions) on: May 11, 2009 02:32:02 PM
You could have some really old clay (as in years old) or it could be partially cured. You could try chopping it up fairly fine with a stiff blade, mixing it with some liquid sculpey and letting it sit overnight before working it into a mass.

Premo is softer than Fimo Classic, but not as soft as Sculpey III.

I'm a big fan of sanding and buffing for a shine - that way you never have to worry about things yellowing, fogging, or peeling.
3  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Question about Kato colour concentrates. on: May 07, 2009 07:00:35 PM
the concentrates are better used to alter the color of other clays or to make color metallics beyond the traditional gold, copper, silver and pearl.
4  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / National Polymer Clay Guild Web Site S&T on: April 02, 2007 09:14:14 AM
The NPCG site is up and running and has a lot of new information and opportunities for clayers. The site took me several months to get up and running and there are more features to be introduced in the near future.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about the Guild, as well.  Check out the clayfilled good ness at: http://www.npcg.org.

Pinky

All skill levels are welcome. What we do is alternate 'open' clay days with scheduled lessons, project and/or demos. I do hope you can make it to the February meeting. I think we may be doing a technique lesson - I need to make a couple of phone calls to line some things up.

Please e-mail me through my profile with your e-mail address and I'll add you to the mailing list.

9  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Makins Clay tools on: September 22, 2006 07:59:39 PM
There are very mixed reviews on the second release of the Makins Ultimate Clay machine (you can see some recent discussion on this in Polymerclaycentral. com's discussion forum.

That said, their professional extruder gun is very good, as are their texture sheets and cutters.
10  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Re: Any tips/tricks for this project? on: August 28, 2006 09:01:09 AM
This got me thinking of this stuff.  Has anyone tried it?  Is it flexibile or brittle like Sculpey III?  I don't know if it would make making the piece any easier or not.

I would not use ultralight for the flower. I'd use a superstrong clay like kato.
