11  Ribbed black & red scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by singingshanti on: December 13, 2007 09:40:52 PM
My first completed knit scarf!

I knit this up for a friend at school.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out...I love how the ribbing adds extra warmth.  I used Caron Simply Soft so it's incredibly cozy!

I added a label with my initials...just to customize it a bit Smiley

Enjoy!  I'm excited ... now on to trying to knit a hat!

Hello all!  My swap partner  (flipflopsgirl21) has received her package, so I thought I'd post some photos Smiley  I'd love to see some better photos, though, Laura!  And action shots Smiley

Crochet Scarf, all 100% wool...it was amazing yarn:

(Creepy photoshopped image..it was really blurry and I just went to town with it Tongue)

Crochet ribbed hat:

I also made 2 crochet pins with sequins to put on the hat and scarf:

I had so much fun on my first swap!  Looking forward to more Smiley

14  Your input needed! in Halloween Costumes by singingshanti on: October 27, 2007 04:11:44 PM
Hello beautiful craftsters!

I lurk every single day but rarely post... but here I go Smiley

I'm visiting my Grammy for the weekend, and we went to the thrift store.  I found this a-m-a-z-i-n-g vintage dress for $4.  Yep, you read that right.

So here it is:

What do you think would be a good costume to do with this dress? I don't want to alter it heavily, because it's a fun dress to wear around any time Smiley

My one thought has been female Johnny Appleseed or something...but it's not too exciting.  Any other ideas?

Thanks guys!

I'd spray the backside with a fabric adhesive, then iron on the fusible interfacing (which Joann's stores behind the cutting counter).

Brilliant!  I had thought about the fusible interfacing, but didn't think it would stick.  The fabric adhesive idea is inspired Smiley

Thanks bunches!

p.s. here are some clearer pictures I just took:

17  Gryffindor Crest Tee in Needlework: Completed Projects by singingshanti on: June 13, 2007 12:04:31 PM
So my brother's birthday is tomorrow, and I just finished embroidering this shirt for him a few days ago.  It turned out wonderful (though you can't tell just how wonderful from the photobooth picture  Tongue)

However, I do have a problem (besides the awful looking mess):

This was my first embroidery project, and about 3/4 of the way through I realized I should have tied knots before and after each thread, which I didn't do.  How would you remedy this problem?

Anyways, I love it and I'm looking forward to more emroidery projects...I just bought a few new patterns from sublime stitchery that I'm anxious to try out Smiley

18  Shirred Easter Top! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by singingshanti on: April 06, 2007 08:34:26 PM
He is risen... He is risen indeed!

I found this Easter fabric sitting around that my sister had bought at a yard sale a while ago, and just knew I had to make something out of it.   This is my first real piece of clothing that I'm proud of, and really feel comfortable wearing out Smiley

(excuse the oh-so-messy dresser!)

I'll upload more photos once I get a chance.  I took some with the digital camera, but the ones above are just some quickies from my mac Tongue

Happy Easter!

20  Dress & Shirred Top in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by singingshanti on: July 30, 2006 09:01:18 AM
This is my first time posting a completed project.  Craftster has been so inspiring to me!  I love it here.

OK, anyways - onto the pictures.  These are two articles of clothing I've made...I wore these on my trip to Washington DC this weekend, so I have pictures of them.

1) A dress I made from a pattern.  I'm still in Maryland, so I don't have the pattern number Tongue  I love how it turned out!  The Walmart ladies helped out a bunch Wink  The pictures was taken outside of a french resteraunt called "La Madeleine."

Sorry for the terrible quality...my camera is terrible Tongue  I also have a black button-up shirt over it, so you can't get the full view...I'll try to get a better picture later...

2) A shirt that I made out of this cute material that had planets and stars on it. It was super easy to make - I just shirred 4 rows on the top, and 3 rows on the bottom.  I also shirred some straps that I attached....and...voila!

It was terrific for touring Washington DC in 90-100 degree weather....because of the bubble-shirt style, the material didn't really even touch my skin, so I was nice and cool.  I love this shirt  Grin

At lunch this one girl came up to me and said, "I like your shirt!"  So that was cool.

This picture was taken at the National Museum of Art, by the way...in between the East and West buildings, they have these awesome triangle-mirror things.

God bless!
