1  Buttons & Bottlecaps in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by singingshanti on: May 03, 2008 07:30:00 PM
My friend and I created a line of jewelry for our "found object sculpture" in our Graphic Design class.  We used buttons & bottles caps to create little works of art!  We sold quite a few of them, which was excellent, and sold a bunch of the button bracelets to a local trendy consignment shop.

These are pictures of just a few of them...I'll be taking more photos soon.

Enjoy!

A button bracelet!  Simple: buttons & elastic thread and we got $5 - $7 each!

Laminated image put in a bottlecap & resinated & dremeled!

Buttons glue gunned .... easy peasy!

Oh wow!  If I didn't think I was the luckiest gal in this swap already, I certainly do now!

After an already wonderful day, it was made oh-so-much better when I received my package from Kristin!

She made me a lovely reversable purse from my wists!  And included a bunch of awesome stuff to put in it Smiley

Thanks so much!!  My first swap was a bit disappointing, as my partner flaked on me (Although I had an AMAZING angel!)...this swap has been so much the opposite of my first.  Thanks all!

On to wonderful pics:

Here's another post from me...I just received a beautiful package from seaofstars!!  I love everything in it!!

The goodies:
  - A needle roll!  I was just thinking about one earlier today, too Smiley
  - A gorgeous little pouch...I'm probably going to be using it for embroidery thread right now, as I'm working on an embroidery project for school Smiley
  - Adorable covered buttons!  They're all so lovely!
  - Extra fabric leftover from the pouch...seaofstars found out I love old damask wallpaper patterns and found some fabric like that.
  - A cute little card.... I love love love the pattern on it!

And onto the pictures:

So I showed the scarf to a friend of mine, and she commissioned me to create this scarf....and paid $20 for it! (Though I charged her $15.  She didn't have change Wink)

Things changed:
  - Color (obviously)
  - Button/button hole are placed on the scarf symmetrically
  - Fringe taken away - replaced with scallops (but they curl under when worn)

Onward to the pictures!

8  Amazing Ruffle Scarf (New pics on page 5 & 6) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by singingshanti on: December 19, 2007 09:52:43 PM
**Edit - check out page 5 & 6 for a second, revised version**

Hello All!

My sister and I were walking through the mall yesterday, when we came across a beautiful scarf that looked like it could be easily made.  So we went to Walmart, picked up some fleece, and got to work.

The scarf is made with elastic thread, and we added a cute button.

We'd love to have your opinions on it!
Thanks!

9  Re: Fashion Doodling Anyone? in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by singingshanti on: December 19, 2007 11:19:32 AM
Hello all!  I finished up a Fashion Illustration course this past semester, and the following were some of my final projects.  I borrowed the whole blowing-watercolor idea from loukr on this thread Smiley  Your paintings were very inspiring!

I used masking fluid to mask off the body once I drew it.  Following are a few of my favorites...you can see more on my blog.

And I just now realized that I never posted my favorite on my blog at all...I'll have to find it and upload it when I get a chance Smiley

God bless!

10  The bag inspired by a font in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by singingshanti on: December 14, 2007 09:20:32 PM
I watched the documentary "Helvetica" today about the font and...I was enthralled.  I think I'm in love...or inspired...as I watched, I got butterflies in my stomach.  I just had to make something!  This font was so beautiful, and as I sat soaking in the goodness of Helvetica I felt that whatever I would make be amazing...such awesomeness just had to rub off on me.

(video: http://imdb.com/title/tt0847817/ )

(Yeah...I'm a weird graphic designer.)

So!  A purse I made a few months ago fell apart, so I decided to create a new one with this gorgeous "Hunting Scene" Cowtan & Tout fabric a fellow classmate of mine gave me.   It's lined with some kind of red quilted fabric.

On to the photos!

I'd love to hear your comments/criticisms.  The flap is too big, and so the straps get in the way...but that's my only complaint Smiley

God bless!
