1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Pencil Cases on: August 21, 2008 11:14:14 AM
My kids painted some fabric and wanted me to sew some new pencil cases for the new school year.

I thought they turned out pretty cute and thought I'd share.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Cross-over Top Pattern on: August 21, 2006 05:23:48 AM

Does anyone know of a pattern that's similar to this top?  It's from the Casual Living catalog and little too expensive for my budget! Thanks.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Denim Wallet on: August 15, 2006 09:26:59 AM
Take a look at the new denim wallet I made.  I am pleased with how it turned out.  Hope you all like it, too.  I'm going to make another one to match a tote bag that I made for a friend. She's been hinting around about how she needs one to match the tote.  I experimented and this is what I came up with.

Front (closed)

Inside (opened):  Zippered change pocket.  Open pocket for paper money.

Back (opened up to get better picture of pocket)

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Howdy, Cowgirls! on: July 28, 2006 09:05:06 AM

My sister-in-law asked me to make either a "horsey" or a "farmy" bag.  She needs it to donate to her town's fair for some kind of drawing or raffle or something. (She lives in a rural community).

It's my first attempt at grommets, linings and corded straps.  The fabric is brown corduroy with embroidered horses and horse stuff all over it.  I lined it with a natural colored decorator fabric that was left over from making some sofa pillows.

What do you think?
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Double-Sided Pre-Quilted Fabric on: July 18, 2006 05:53:00 AM
Has anybody used double-sided pre-quilted fabric for purses?  How do you finish the seams?  When you line a purse the seams are hidden between the outer fabric and the lining.  But you can't do that with this.  Any tricks of the trade?  I've been trying a lot of hokey ways, but so far haven't found any easy way.  Any suggestions/tutes are appreciated.  Thanks.

I'm going to stay in and SEW today--too hot to do anything else.
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Batik Cube Bag on: June 27, 2006 10:52:03 AM
I've been a lurker for a while, so I thought I'd show off my stuff.

I'm never sure what to call them...but I think I'm calling them the Cube Bag (even though they are kind of triangular when closed).  If anyone can think of a better name, I love suggestions.

The front has a crazy-stitched quilted pocket.

Here are a few pics:
