1  Re: Felt Mascot or Little Stuffie Swap R6 - Halloween! - Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by kitkabbit on: October 21, 2007 07:05:14 PM
Wow, I finally looked here and all the stuffies are great.  I love the black kitties so much.  And the mummy is just adorable.
I received yesterday morning from cupcake guru and she made me one of my favorite characters ever, Jack Skellington complete with an extra head for when he feels like stepping into his Pumpkin Kin persona!  The pumpkin is extra clever because it slips over his skullface and voila, there you go!  Pumpkin King!  I also got a couple extra goodies- cute halloweeny stickers.  Yay stickers.  Never enough.  I think I'll be decorating everyone at work with stickers, haha!

Thank you so much cupcakeguru.  right now he is lounging nonchalantly against a vase in the living room downstairs, adding a bit of halloween festivity to our decor!

All together:

the cool felty pumpkin she embellished her card with (um cupcake guru, how DID  you do that???!!)
Jack Skellington!!!

And the Pumpkin King!

4  Re: Greenthumbs Swap Rnd 3 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kitkabbit on: July 13, 2007 10:54:40 PM
ok, I'm back from limbo- been incredibly busy lately!
I received today, around lunchtime!! Supermedic was insane, she sent me sooooooooo much stuff!!! Here's a list of what she spoilt me with: http://pics.livejournal.com/kitkabbit/pic/000a6bqb/s640x480
http://pics.livejournal.com/kitkabbit/pic/000a8e3t
a fabulous set of garden apron and garden tote (with 12 pockets in the tote in total for every tool I could possibly use!!), adorable woodburned plaques, one has a garden gnome, YAY!!! and the other is a Welcome to my Garden sign with a  really cute kitten gardener!!  She also sent me a froggie planter (which sadly got broken during the journey but I'm going to try to fix it) and crocheted me a plant hanger too!  I also got plants (daisies, iris, tomato, and spurge) PLUS 3 packets of sweet pea seeds!

Thank you so much, Michelle!!  I just hope that you will be as happy with your incoming package as I am right now!  I ripped that package open as soon as I could get to the scissors, haha!!!  Lucky me... heehee... I have a gnome, a gnome, a gnome, I think I love him....

also here is what I sent Supermedic:
a totebag with matching pin, 2 windchimes, one was vintage silverplate and the other salvaged from a crystal martini glass, i used copper foil tape to decorate it, birdhouse ornament, watering can ornament, damask rosepetal potpourri, red camellia pincushion, earrings, and plants.

PS:
bending that fork was really tough on my fingers even with gloves and pliers!  and the DH helped with drilling the holes, yay!

Well, I was a lucky duck and rec'd yesterday!

Meganlorraine sent me an entire box filled with goodies.  I'll add pics to this post this evening.

She sent me:
-a FANTABULOUS pond friends windchime decorated with lovely glass beads and sculpey froggie, goldfishie and turtle, which sounds so pretty when it chimes
-adorable froggie juice glass!  which I can't use just yet... sadly I have no juice in the fridge right now.. excuse to go buy juice at the grocery store!
-dragonfly and froggie stickers
-cool dragonfly foam stamp
-cuuuuuute butterfly buttons
-2 butterfly magnets made with those same buttons and clothespins.. (must see pic to explain better)
-some beautiful **BLUE** brocade-y fabric
-really nice headband
-and lastly, a uber cute amigurumi crocheted froggie toy!!  which as I totally suck at crochet, is superduper!

here is froggie all by himself!

the windchime:

I love it all, Megan, and thank you from the bottom of my heart!  I think I ripped that box open in about 30 seconds flat and had all my goodies strewn across the living room floor.  was much too much like xmas, haha!

I just hope you like your stuff!  should arrive soon =}
**huge hugs** xoxoxox

6  have you seen my stapler? in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by kitkabbit on: May 06, 2007 05:28:40 PM
this was inspired by the office space movie.  I made it this week and put it in the felt inanimate objects craft challenge.  this was just for fun, without using a pattern it came out ok, but next time i'd like to figure out how to make the seams nice and crisp, just using stuffing makes them kind of round all over!  but it's nice and big and above all RED!!!

enjoy!

7  Have you seen my stapler??? in CHALLENGE 18 ENTRIES by kitkabbit on: May 06, 2007 05:19:47 PM
I made it this week, since I got reminded there was a felt Craft Challenge on!  It was inspired by poor Milton's favorite office accessory in the Office Space movie.  Enjoy, this was just for fun!  Have to say, so many of the other entries are just AMAZING!!!  I used felt for most of it, cut it freehand.  The logo was cut out from white cotton quilt fabric I had with the aid of scissors and fusible interfacing (to keep fraying at a minimum.)

8  Re: Felt Mascot or Little Stuffie Swap R3 Foods! -- Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kitkabbit on: April 30, 2007 11:38:43 PM
Here's Susie's plateful of yummy but kind to your waist treats:

there's a peach, fortune cookie, cake slice, swiss roll, crepe (has bananas whip cream and strawberry in it), sakura mochi (pink thing with a leaf wrapped around it) and a taiyaki (sweet red bean fish-shaped cake)!  the trickiest by far were the crepe (figuring out how to crap all the little pieces inside the pancake) and the taiyaki, embroidery is not my best talent.  I made them all as magnets figuring that everyone would be able to enjoy and USE them that way!  and as i was raised a practical New Englander, having more than 1 use makes it better!!!

I also made her little felt strawberry, kiwi and flower charms for her daughter and teeny tiny cranes (probably about a centimeter in size or so, i forgot to fold one as i was in such a hurry to send), who doesn't love tiny little things?

was so glad susie liked them all.  it took a long time to get there in my opinion, the post office was dead wrong, that wasn't any 2-3 days at all transit time, bleh.  I've been so lucky to have had both our organizers as swap partners!!!  wasn't this SUCH a AWESOME swap???
HUGE HUGS to Novastarlet and IamSusie, our wonderful organizers!!!i'm so in for the next round!  whee!

9  Re: what to do with over 5lbs of rosemary? in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by kitkabbit on: April 24, 2007 05:50:31 PM
Well, the method I used is adapted from Rosemary Gladstar's method of making rosewater (I just basically used google), here are a couple of links discussing the stovetop brick method:

http://www.bbg.org/gar2/topics/kitchen/2005su_rosewater.html
http://www.care2.com/channels/solutions/self/293

but really it's making an extract of any fragrant flower or herb that matters.  I fear that my rosemary water is diluted, but I removed, strained and kept the water I boiled my rosemary in- I guess that would be an infusion/tea.  I'm planning to use it for astringent/hair rinse.

I think i'd like to try this method next time:
freezing & oil
http://thecronescorner.com/insense.htm

if anyone has a copy of this book I had as a child and still love, The American Girl's Handy Book, there was a chapter dealing with rosewater.   this is a wonderful book that anyone can read and enjoy!
http://www.amazon.com/American-Girls-Handy-Book-Nonpareil/dp/0879236663

... where else can you find a book that teaches you how to make a badminton net or a hammock???  or all sorts of victorian girls' pastimes?

um.  I STILL have craptons of it left.  Guess I must take a pic to show the largesse of my plants after pruning!  really too much rosemary, lol!

10  tea towel in Needlework: Completed Projects by kitkabbit on: April 13, 2007 09:14:06 AM
thought i would post this, i made it for the teatime swap.  i applique'd and embroidered it.  it came out alright, but I'm not that experienced an embroiderer.  first pic is a detail of the towel and 2d is a pic of the towel under the other stuff... sorry, i can't seem to find the correct picture of just the towel, will look for it and try to substitute that asap.
I appliqued 5 motifs (2 teapots, 2 teacups & one more)  and embroidered around each one.
