rickrackruby---how is that kit working for you?  i had a friend showing me how to knit and i couldn't imagine just reading it in a book -- it seems like a more hands on thing because she would adjust my hands, etc.  if it's a good one, i think i'll check it out!

I would love to get together on the 1st -- the sooner the better!  but if that doesn't work out, any day's good for me.

Tina -- I LOVE Magic Mountain!!!  They have the absolute best rides ever!  Have you ever ridden on X?  OMG -- that ride is so SCARY!!

Chindogu -- Fountain Valley is kind of between Long Beach and Costa Mesa, but closer to CM.  I used to work in CM and my boyfriend grew up there, right by that huge mall South Coast Plaza, so I've spent a lot of time there.  I like it.  Long Beach really is one of my favorite spots in that area -- it's so different than other places in Southern CA.  People actually walk everywhere, there's a big downtown, cool people and lots to do.  I lived about 3 blocks from the beach (not that anyone swims in it -- yuck!, but still..) and would ride my bike to work on the bike path.  so fun!

oh my gosh, sorry.  i just went on a little CA ramble.  haha.

I would love to meet new people here -- I really think that would make the transition a lot easier.  I'm currently looking for a job, so I've got a lot of time on my hands.  Smiley  I will for sure see you at the next meetup!

I would definitely be into meeting everyone, but only if it IS in the evening!  You know how the day after New Years can be, heh heh.

chindogu -- i'm from Fountain Valley, but lived in Long Beach (LA County, ha) my last year in California.  i miss it soo much!  are you from there?

I'm so bummed that I missed out on the meet-up and I will definitely be able to make the next one.

While I was in California, my friend started to teach me to knit.  So like RickRackRuby, I would love to learn knitting as well.  Is knitting the same as crocheting?  haha

So, when's the next meet up???

yah!  how exciting!  something is coming together!  (it amazes me how many exclamation marks i use sometimes!  haha)

I'm not sure if I will be able to attend this first meeting on the 11th as I will most likely still be in California, but I am trying to get back before then.  I'll keep everyone posted.  Smiley  If not, have a great time and post all about it!

Beppycat,

I live at Warner and McQueen and I've been to that Craftmart tons of times!  How do you like working there?  Do you get a discount?  I swear, I would spend half my paycheck if I worked there!

Thank you girls for all the great responses! I apologize for taking so long to reply, but I've been in california for the past two weeks visiting my family.  It put a big smile on my face when I saw how many responses there were!  yeah!

Rickrackruby -- Thank you so much for the Thanksgiving invite -- I hope you had a great time with all your friends!  I have a friend who works in Scottsdale and I've gone to lunch with her a couple of times and from what I've seen of the city, I really like it!  It's the city that most reminds me of Orange County -- like Newport Beach, without the ocean!

Beppycat -- I think it's so cool that you don't drive a car -- bike riding is so fun and healthy, too!  I don't think having to ask for a ride makes you a mooch and I'm sure anyone who is cool would understand!  Where do you you ride your bike in Chandler?  I'm living in Gilbert but it's right on the border of Chandler, so it's more Chandler than Gilbert.  Did that make sense?  haha.  I live in an apartment complex that's right on a whole series of manmade lakes, so my boyfriend and I will ride our bikes next to these beautiful lakes and oggle all the gorgeous houses.  It's a lot of fun!

Tinafish --  First off, yah for the Rilo Kiley quote!  I love them!  Do you like the Postal Service too?  I've been listening to their album constantly ever since it came out two years ago -- I'm addicted!  Are there any cool Indie Rock/Punk spots around town?  I've heard of Modified Arts and The Paper Heart, but have never actually gone to anything at either.  Have you?  Are the Artwalk First Fridays every first friday, as the name would suggest?  I'll be missing the one coming up this week because I'll still be in California.  Smiley

Booglass -- I would love to teach you what I know about bookmaking.  I'm at the very very very early stages of learning, but I could show you what I know so far!  I think your idea about all of us getting together and teaching a craft is awesome!  I know someone in CA who would do that with a group of his friends and it sounded so cool!

Whew, i feel like I just did a ton of "Shout Outs"!  haha.

I agree with Booglass with the "WE MUST do this..."  It would be so great to meet all you AZ gals and get our hang out/craft/meet on!  Set the time and the place and I'm there!

Thanks again for all the great responses!  You all made my day!

Sorry for the length, but I am so so excited about this!
