2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 13! on: August 08, 2006 02:27:33 PM
I claim mpicky for a jordy bag. This is my first claim this round.

My List:
Granny squares. I dont know. I think theyre really cool looking, and I wish I could crochet. But maybe a bag or something?

A nice skirt. I am extremely proficient at making your typical A-line, but I never work up the courage/energy to embellish one nicely or even to branch out into a pencil skirt or something. I hate to give examples because I am extremely open, but

Something nautical. Maybe a fairly casual top or skirt or maybe some jewelry or I guess Im getting at something wearable.

A knit piano key scarf!!! Holy cow. I was extremely impressed by this: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=51018.0

A funky pincushion. Maybe felt?

Any kind of cute accessory. I am kind of starting to get into those big, chunky, colorful bead necklaces, but maybe something with a little bit more originality? I also like bracelets, rings and I do have pierced ears.

Ooh, or a yoked top.

Any of your sewing notions. One can never have too many BUTTONS or THREAD. Also, fabric scraps, ribbon, elastic, and general whatnots.

Tree stuff. Gotta respect trees.

A collection of photos. Im really into weird collections of photos lately, like a series of photo booth photos, or of the inside of peoples refrigerators, or of names in sidewalks, or whatever you fancy. Or maybe a kind of album for pictures to go in, but I prefer the kind that are just paper, where you have to physically adhere the picture to the page, and then it leaves you room for writing as well.

Something about unicorns.

A new glasses case. Just a little pouch to put glasses in so they dont get scratched.

Art for my wall. Any size, your choice of styles. It could be a replica of a classic or an original.

If anyone has one of those buttonmaker kits, Id definitely take some handmade button/pin things.

Learn-to kits:
1.)   Silkscreening
2.)   Felting
3.)   Resin
4.)   Macram
5.)   Slide necklace things

About Me: I am almost 17, living in Council Bluffs, IA (its like Omahas ugly little sister). I am editor in chief of my schools newspaper, involved in Mime Club and technical theater, and am currently spending most of my summer working on a community art project for our public library through the Bemis Center. I am inspired by vintage styles, street style, and surprising combinations. I like black and/or white combined with primary colors, complimentary color combinations and pretty much any other good color combination as long as it doesnt involve neons. I like appliqus, animals and geometric patterns like polka dots, stripes, checks, etc. But not really those Vans-slip-ons-and-racing-flags kind of checks. Meh, I dont know. PM me or something.

That is a nice dress. I like your tights, too. How many yards of fabric did that take?

I recieved today from highschoolcrafter. Check it out:

While I am very happy to be wearing this adorable shirt, that really is just a cellphone in my pocket.

And now for a closeup:

Aren't you charmed?

T-shirt with a fairly simplistic but still enjoyable design. Dinosaurs are nice, so are robots, rocketships or astronauts or anything outerspace, any manner of baked goods or forest animals ... I dont know, surprise me. This one is pretty nice: http://www.delias.com/item.do?categoryID=463&itemID=45862&sizeFilter=&colorFilter=&brandFilter=  But like I said, whatever.

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: "Hi! I used to be a ... cape?" on: April 06, 2006 02:54:14 PM
I have enough of that fabric left to make about two more skirts like that. I thought about making a matching bag or something, but then I thought the pattern might be a little overpowering. The scarf idea might work. I also thought about lining a bag with that fabric and having the outside be brown or something.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / "Hi! I used to be a ... cape?" on: April 05, 2006 07:55:17 PM
So, I bought one of those weird, African cape/dress/robe/muumuu things from a thrift store due to its pattern and bountiful amounts of fabric. It's also a pretty thick fabric, good for winter.

The full thing.

You can see the pattern and the button closure better on this one. I just used five panels with a little flare at the bottom to create the little ruffle-like effect at the bottom. Easy as pie!
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: the old yet new blue shrug on: March 25, 2006 11:15:43 AM
Did you make it from a pattern or use another shrug as a reference or draft your own pattern? Because that is really impressive. I really like it.
