Popping in to say "Hi!" to everybody! so "HI!!!" *giggles*

Life is hectic crazy, but I'm doing a big throw out, organize, simplify, etc.

I promised rangerbeth I'd add a picture to the gallery of her beautiful custom fabric bucket. I just love it!

here's a link to the gallery:

Thank you rangerbeth!

Hope all of you are doing well, keeping warm thoughts you'all's way.

See you all in January, hopefully!

And she added two matching coasters, which I am using one now. Thanks for the bonus!!!

Hey, all!

Congratulations alteredmommy and lapoli!

cc, there is a "special" topping that is tear away. The toppings are extremely thin, plastic-like. I buy them in various colors. You use a topping for two reasons.

washaway-tearaway topping (clear) is to keep stitches from burying themselves into terry or fur or deep fleece.

colored toppings/tearaway are used to keep the bottom fabric colors from showing through the embroidery. An example would be if you were using a black-white small pattern and then a white embroidered design. you'd put a white topping to cover the black.

If you are having a problem with the tearaway not holding the stitches when using it on the back, there are two reasons.

1) I used to use coffee filters as a tearaway backing. and ALL, note ALL, my designs really were horrid quality. I switched a better quality backing and the stitches didn't bunch up anymore.

2) If using a quality backing and the stitches still don't look right, it is time to use either two layers of tearaway or better, cutaway.

As stated, normal tearaway used on top would still leave fibers showing at the edges.

Hope this helps you to understand tearaways and toppings.

This isn't the definitive answer, but what I've personally used with a commercial and home embroidery machine business.

I salvaged half of it, but when I originally went to unwind the skein, it tangled immediately. I don't know if I can get the rest untangled without cutting a few times. It seriously makes me want to cry when I look at the tangled bag of gorgeous yarn. I did get a "magic loom" set from the antique mall so I'm going to use the bits to make small woven patches. I think it'd make a neat bag.

Oh! SML - There is a group on Ravelry for people who LOVE untangling skeins of yarn.  I'm not lying.  I think they are divided up geographically.  If you're interested, I can track down more info to share with you.. They may be able to help and you might be able to salvage the handspun.

Ah-- here you are!

SML, I also love untangling and I don't cut. PM me and I'll work out a deal! You should see the tangle I'm working on now. Almost finished -- 1100 yards of lace weight yarn! no cuts.

I popped in to hear all the chatter. Catching up like 5 day's worth.

Missed Lana's pic, hope you get the job a2k, bluesheep, awww sorry you are hurting. Hi to everyone else! I'm mailing off and will have points soon!

Mark needs me to do a job so gotta run!

Zelda.S finished the 18 stripes of your second sock! Tonight the heel and cuff! Then they are finished.

YAY!!! for finishing, although I'm not really finished yet. But the end is in sight!

YAY!  Now I just need points to claim them!  ACK!

No worries Z.S! When I finish the the socks, I'm thinking of trying to tat some masks. My tatting always sells well, so I'll have points in no time!

then some button necklaces!

Pseudo_pix, great things! As soon as I have points, I'll head over!

After a really frustrating day, I added my shop.

Since we have new people, I've added items from long ago, so they'll be new to some of you, <smiles>.

New stuff coming. I'm back to tatting again.
