I've thought about going to CMC but I'm kind of a knitting flunkie. I took a class and was not exactly an "A" student.  Smiley Would someone be willing to teach me - and be patient?!

most definitely! We love teaching people how to knit. you should totally come next monday!

if you knit or crochet, you should totally come down to the CMC (its on university, across from the bank of america). I'm part of the Hook and Needle Gang, we meet every monday at 6:30. we have plenty of supplies, and people to teach you if you don't know how to do it. we always like new comers--you should totally check it out!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: my first knitted hat! on: January 09, 2006 07:12:19 AM
That's a really cute hat! (And I'm impressed with the cable cast on  I haven't even tried that, and I've been knitting for a couple of years! I always use the old long-tail cast on, since I could probably do it in my sleep.)

I don't know why you'd have had holes for sure, but maybe you decreased really fast and caused the fabric to pull at itself or something. I did something similar to a hat that I gave my brother for X-mas, but managed to hide it due to the fuzziness of the yarn.

It might be that I decreased really fast, I was in a hurry to get it done before I went out with friends.

thanks for the compliments, girls!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / my first knitted hat! on: January 06, 2006 02:18:30 PM

I'm a beginning knitter but I decided I want to try and make a hat. I got a book and taught myself how to cable cast-on. As I was decreasing there were weird little holes popping up (any ideas why?)  so I covered the wholes with a pom-pom. I like it well enough.

feel free to call me an idiot, but is Matt (you, I'm assuming?) supposed to play the guitar or the guiatar? Other than that, it looks awesome!

What kind of music do you play?

7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Re: light ink on dark fabric?? help :0) on: March 24, 2005 11:06:57 AM
I'm completely new to silkscreening, but I've been put in charge of silkscreening 17 black shirts for this fundraiser I'm doing (Relay for Life).  I was put in charge because I know the most (of all the people on my relay team) about making shirts, but I've got no clue about screenprinting. I got a little booklet from the art supply store (AOE, its a local place) that explains the process, so I'm not too concerned about that. But I want the shirts to be pretty vivid. I've got no clue what a flash dryer is, and I don't have much more money to spend on the project. So. Any tips about what to do?

regarding the China stencil, is it a free Tibet type thing? Like a map of China without Tibet?
