2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / mayor mccheese - the man, the myth, the legend on: November 19, 2008 07:22:37 AM
after seeing smarmyclothes mayor mccheese costume (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=60755.0) 3 years ago, i've been DYING to make it. this year, my boyfriend agreed to be the mayor.

i used:
couch cushions (3)
felt for the cheese and eyes
styrofoam balls for the cheeks and eyebrows
styrofoam cones for the nose
fabric and cardboard for the hat
spray paint - i used flat paint and this textured stuff for the bun. you know, to make it more bun-like.

i thrifted the purple womens suit and glued ribbon stripes on. the sash is just scrap fabric i had laying around that i painted "mayor" on.

mayor was a little inappropriate during the night...

naughty!

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Louie got a new jacket! on: January 28, 2007 06:29:40 PM
It's finally getting cold in Philadelphia, so Louie got a new jacket to stay warm.

Non-functioning buttons are awesome.

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I've become one of "those people". on: January 28, 2007 06:27:32 PM
That's right. I made a skirt to match my dogs jacket, and people look at me like I'm crazy when I'm walking him wearing said clothing.

It's the first time I've sewed in awhile, I've been really busy with moving so my skillz are a little rusty.
Sorry the pictures are kind of crappy, I had to take them myself.

(My boyfriends apartment is a mess. Barf.)

5  Pennsylvania / Pennsylvania: Southeast / antique shops/vintage shops on: October 03, 2006 07:43:33 PM
i'm moving into my first house in december, and i have to buy EVERYTHING for it (except bedroom stuff). i like kitchsy vintage stuff, tacky knick knacks, ornate things. i'm looking for a velvet couch, perferably something with a wood border. i found a few in phila so far, but i didn't have anywhere to store it.

does anyone know any good places in the phila. area to find such things? i've checked the thrift store on 9th and wolf, 10th and lehigh, etc. (no retrospect, too expensive! and a huge rip off).

thanks!
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Civil War Themed Birthday Party on: August 17, 2006 06:25:58 AM
I'm throwing my boyfriend a surprised Civil War themed birthday party. So far, Abe Lincoln cake and red/white/blue streamers and balloons, perhaps some era drinks, etc.

Any ideas?

8  Pennsylvania / Pennsylvania: Southeast / Philadelphia Fabric Shops/Sewing Supplies Shops on: June 07, 2006 09:00:36 AM
I just moved to Philadelphia and am looking for some good fabric shops in the area; I don't have a car so anywhere that isn't accessible by bike/public transportation won't work. Anyone know of any goods ones?

Thanks!
