1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: Which cutting machine do I want? on: September 02, 2012 08:05:28 AM
I know this topic has been dead for a while but I am hoping to revive it. I am trying to decide on a cutting machine right now. I really wanted to cut felt and thought that I'd be able to do it with a gazelle (apparently not). I was going to get the gazelle anyway because the other media I primarily want to cut is chipboard. I was almost all set to order it when I read this review, which goes against all the other positive reviews I've seen.

I am concerned because I've never used a cutting machine before so I feel like if it's this difficult I don't stand a chance. Can anyone respond to the criticisms here or have a suggesting for die cutting felt?

These didn't come out quite as I had planned, but I'm still pretty pleased with them - I just wish I was able to get some better pictures! I've got plans to make one for myself for December Victorian Strolls, Christmas Parties and a Yule Celebration. Woo!

Brass is by far my new favorite metal - I think it has so much more of a bohemian feel to it (:

The first pair is an assortment of antique lace, pearls, peacock feathers, beads, crystals, etc - the mixing of metal and textile is my new favorite thing!

beautiful...

I never used sari yarn in any clothing before as I find it to be a bit itchy...but I can see from your hat that a little bit sure adds to the texture and beauty of the hat...and placed properly, it would be fine!

wonderful that you showcased the yarns so well...

Actually, what I found out with one of the first hats that I made using sari silk is that it stretches...A LOT and it does not stretch back! For that reason I try to make sure I have more wool or other fiber in relation to the silk in the hat & I also try not to put a lot of the silk around the brim, since it will get stretched out first.
