Ok, I've been working on this thing for what seems like forever now and I think I'm finally, finally finished.
I started collecting bits of fabric for a quilt when I was 16 and finally had enough and some time to stitch it up after about, oh 12 or so years . After all that work though I just didn't much like it so I passed it along to my mom and it lived at the cottage for many years until she started clearing out old stuff and asked me if I wanted it back. Ok, I thought, maybe I can fix this thing up. It was just so big, a queen at least, so I took off the borders (HOURS of seam ripping), stitched and patched up holes, added some piping and put it back together again. After what seems like a very, very long time (because it WAS!) it's a quilt again, the perfect size for the back of our couch and I absolutely love it. It's not precisely pieced together so it's far from perfect but all those squares from old clothes and projects, it's like a memory treasure hunt every time I look at it.
I was in love with my serger way back then and that's how I originally put the squares together. Of course many seams didn't last (duh) so I patched them up with interesting bits of flannel and ribbon.
Here is the back, it's a very soft, fluffy fleecey fabric that's perfect to cuddle under on the couch on a chilly night.
