1  a cover for my Kindle in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by dancemonger on: July 17, 2010 06:36:21 AM
I finally broke down and bought a Kindle.  I'm saving a tree, right? Smiley

So, I had to make a case for it...

I made a "book mark" to hold it inside:

I was going to make just the screen vinyl, but am glad I decided to make the keyboard visible too:

I just used different colors of embroidery floss (and a button hole) for the buttons/5-way on the sides:

2  Gift Card Box in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by dancemonger on: May 09, 2010 03:55:22 PM
I made this gift card holder for my partner's mothers' day gift.  After I finished it, I was so happy with it!
I used this template:
http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/links/GiftCardBox.html
and cut out the picture from a thank you card I had...

Now I just want to make a million more Grin

3  ball markers in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by dancemonger on: August 02, 2009 11:15:52 AM
I posted this here because even though I used them as ball markers for a golfing friend's birthday, you could make them into anything really.
I couldn't think of anything to make for my friend's 50th birthday.  She has money and rich friends that can buy her whatever.  Anyway, I made her some golf ball markers:

these 3 I painted by hand:

here's a shot of all 8:

I just glued the wood discs to plastic golf ball markers I got at the golf shop.  Now I'm thinking I could make magnets and stuff too...

Thanks for looking!

4  Yes, They ARE Sumo cookies! (pic of cutter added) in Dessert by dancemonger on: May 24, 2009 08:47:48 PM
thanks to everyone for all the comments!  I had fun making these guys  Grin
I noticed that the blue for their belts was a little wet when I applied it, and of course they bled into the skin part as they dried.  I think next time I may try and make the belts out of fondant.
Anyway, here's a pic of the rice press I used as the cutter.  For some of them I added the topknot, some I just left.  I think they are recognizable either way (?)

I made these today and want to know if you can tell what they are, or if it is just my strange brain that thinks they look like what I think they look like.

Thanks for looking!

5  Re: Ideas for too-small t-shirts? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by dancemonger on: January 12, 2009 02:23:55 PM
I had a bunch of T-shirts from about 20lbs. ago and could not part with them.  I tried appliqueing the cute parts onto other shirts, and that kinda worked, but what really worked best for me was just re-purposing them into shoe bags for travel.
I really use them for all kinds of stuff now.

6  Re: help with james pearse cardigan! in Designer Clothing Homage by dancemonger on: January 10, 2009 05:22:39 PM
I just made something sorta like this!
How funny!  Mine was a knock off of a Splendid cardigan...
I just used a knit jacket I already own as a pattern for the arms.  I wanted them to fit and not be too baggy.  I just lay the jacket on my fabric and cut the sleeves and sides of the back in one go.   Then I folded that piece in half to cut the 2 front pieces.  I just cut extra in the front for the drape.  You can make it whatever shape you want.  It looks like yours may have more of a shawl  neckline, so cut that when you cut out your back too.
I hope this makes sense...  it was really easy!

7  metal repair tape: first attempt in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by dancemonger on: October 13, 2008 07:55:32 PM
So, I was looking around and found this:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=272909.0

WOW!
I ran down to the local hardware store and got me some metal repair tape!

OK, I have no die cutter, just my trusty exact-o knife, so be kind:

tags I made with wood tags and cardboard I cut out:
FRONT

BACK

MAGNETS

These are 1/4 page cards I am thinking about using for Holiday cards since they will fit in those envelops for 1/4 fold printed cards
I used hot glue to make the images:

A Mum I paint a lot

A birdy

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I couldn't find the permanent ink refills that enola called for, so I just used a permanent pen and wiped it off really fast...

Thanks!

8  Is this Decorating? in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by dancemonger on: October 11, 2008 01:07:05 AM
So, we have lived in this place for 6 years - owning it for about 2.  I still cannot get the bathroom faucets off!  Ok.  Only tried a little...  They are really stuck!

The Cold side was missing it's "C", so I decided:  We already know which side is HOT and which side is COLD, so:

My coworker gave me a bunch of pins with cute characters on them.  I had no idea what to do with them - until now!

At least I don't have to see that damn screw everytime I wash my hands now!  I'm sure lots of others have done something like this and would love to see!  I started thinking of all the things you could put in there!  Beads, rocks, little drawings, pics from a magazine...

9  2nd try Clutch in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by dancemonger on: October 07, 2008 12:07:32 AM
I needed to make a birthday gift for a friend.  I wanted it to be nice, so decided to make a practice run at it first:

and gave it to another friend.

Here's what I came up with after that first trial run...

I made a flat bottom:

and it's reversable:

And the friend I gave the prototype to was happy too!

Thanks for looking! Grin
